I am a street size 14/16, and I have fallen in love with a drop waist ball gown. The problem is, I can’t try it on. The nearest salon carrying the dress I love is six hours away. Also, I’m assuming the sample will be too small for me to squeeze in to anyhow. I’ve been tossing around the idea of a “China Dress” since the dress is also 5k over my budget.
Does anyone think it is a terrible idea to have a designer dress made without ever trying it on?
Any additional thoughts?
In the meantime, please post pics of your drop waist ball gowns!
Here is the dress I’ve been obsessing over (minus the lace overlay). Rosa Clara Cazorla. (The picture always uploads before the text from my phone)

@shortie1848: Can you go and try on dresses that are similar in style? At least that way you will know for sure if you love the dropped waist look on you.
My wedding dress was a dropped waist ball gown and I absolutely loved it! I am a street size 12/14 and the dress was a 14.

@shortie1848: wow what a beautiful dress. Some of the girls I work with got china dresses and they all only have positive tgings to say. Re trying on dress I think u will be surprised as the sizes available to try on in the salons. It was my fear as well that nothing would fit…but every salon I went to had loads of dresses for me to try on

I would definitely at least try to try on similar styles. What looks good on one plus size girl might look awful on the next! But here’s my asymmetrical drop waist… 🙂

Ladies, you all look beautiful, honestly. I am getting negative feedback from my mom and (model) sister about wearing a drop waist ballgown.

I wore a drop-waist ball gown. I tried on many, many ball gowns with natural, gathered waists, but all of them looked absolutely ridiculous on me. The drop waist made all the difference in the world:

My sneak peaks just started to come in. I am a size 12-14 street and this is a Stephen Yearick 14 drop waist and I will be selling it for the new year.

GORGEOUS! My mom and my sister keep trying to deter me from a drop waist ballgown. I think they look the best on me, they think otherwise.

It’s fit and flare but pretty much same diff. I thought this style would look terrible on me but it ended up the most flattering. I’m a street size 10/12, dress is a 14 (David’s Bridal).
