Plus size in a ball gown, is it a bad idea? Pics please!

I don’t have any pics but I’m a size 14/16. I thought I wanted a ball gown when I went shopping but when I tried some on I hated them. Adding extra fluff where I already had extra fluff just made me feel ginormous and unattractive.

I’m an 18/20 and have no regrets about my ball gown. I felt amazing and that’s all that mattered.

@laurenforte:  i haven’t tried this on, but I will tell you that I LOVE ballgowns, I just don’t like how they look on me.

I am not plus size, but I am a very curvy girl and when I tried on a ball gown, it just ate me up and didn’t flatter me at all.

So before you commit to a ballgown, I would suggest trying on a few different silohuettes, bc you might surprise yourself and find that you look good a fitted dress.

Let me tell you why,

When I went dress shopping, I wanted a ballgown, I felt maybe it will hide these areas I hate. I tried them on and i was so sad, I looked like a cupcake or a comforter!

Then I went to this other bridal boutique and I showed the sales woman a picture of what I wanted, and she said, I know what you want.

She pulled a few dresses that I WOULD never have picked for myself. She looked at my face and in her broken Italian accent said, just try on, dresses are not made for the hanger, if you no like, we try more.

Fine, I tried on a few dresses. Then came THE DRESS, I put it on and it was a fit and flare aka trumpet stlye dress, and I died, for the first time I was like heyyyy I look good.

So I just want you to know, that just because you are plus sized, doesn’t mean you have to wear a ballgown, plus size and curvy girls can look good in fitted dresses! Don’t feel subjected to ONLY ballgowns!

I hope this didn’t come off the wrong way.

I can’t stand the cupcakey, poof out at the waist ballgowns. I definitely wanted something fitted to the hips and then the skirt can fill out and poof. I’m an 18/20, by the way.

I don’t have any pics (they don’t let you take photos in bridal stores here) but I think a ball gown works really well on plus sizes! I hate shopping for clothes, feel miserable trying them on, BUT when I tried on the 2011 Belle I felt beautiful 🙂 This is the model photo:

I’m a street size 12 and a bridal 16 in the hips and bust, my waist measures to a size 14, so for me a natural waist ballgown emphasizes my smallest point and exaggerates my hourglass figure. I’m not sure what your figure looks like, but this is what a ballgown looks like on me.

@laurenforte:  It’s Sincerity 3701. There are no model pictures of it, so here’s a few more angles if you’re interested.
