Are you looking for 40s style wedding dresses or just that style dress in general?
Prefferably a wedding dress............. but I am very open to anything...........
This is what I have found so far:

love love love love the dress that you posted!!! only thing that i could think of would be dresses like la sposa's fanal but it doesn't fit your slit requirements.
it's very pinup girl-ish to me

Here is a link to some really sassy dresses:

A dress designer you may like is Stephanie James, her work is fantastic, I'm considering wearing one of her dresses: http://www.stephaniejamescouture.com/blog/
There was a girl that posted recently that had the most fabulous dress, champagne color, slit up the side, form fitting- I think she was going to Vegas to get married originally but, then changed her mind, she has short hair....anyone know who I'm speaking of? Anyway, I'd love for you to see her dress, it's great!
I wanted you to look at the dress on this page, they are awesome- the 6th one down on the right is my favorite.
@ leafy- Stephanie James is AMAZING! Unfortunatly far out of my price range.......... but I love the inspiration.
@ miss yap- Your dress is beautiful. So classic and elegant. It just speaks glamour :)
Yeah, her dresses are a bit pricey. I should ask, what is your price range, this could give everyone a better idea of what to post and what not to tease you with. :P I was wondering, what did you think of the other dresses, the ones with the little winged pieces at the bust cup?
@ leafy- LOVED them. My price range is somewhat flexible............. but I do not want to spend over $500. To me personally, more than that is just too much for a dress. Also, it just isn't in the budget. The first dress I posted can be bought for $150.
I do like the dress you posted although I wish the had put it on a model with a little more chest, it looks so flat on her in that area. That dress is very doable for a wedding. I take it you're a big fan off offbeatbride.com? I love that site!
Where is that dress you posted from?
Here's some I found:

http://www.unique-vintage.com/queen-heartz-1940s-style-ivory-satin-wedding-dress-p-2852.html
Also look at Dolly Couture: http://www.dollycouture.com/index.php/collection.html
Also, this etsy seller will make custom dresses. her prices seem very reasonable.
This is probably the dress I'll be going with (can't decide on white or blue). It comes in a pencil skirt as well.

@ leafy- I am! One of my favorite wedding porn sites :)
@ zippylef- The dress I found is also from unique vintage............ I LOVE that site. Will check out the Etsy seller you recommended too.
@ texasgalah- Wonderful dress. I love it.
here is a great site...
and despite 'couture' being in the name they are very reasonable!!
Have you looked at Blue Velvet Vintage? They have dress styles from the 1920's and up with VERY reasonable prices - like, under $300.00 for most of them.
@ hisswallow- Thanks............. checking it out now. LOVING it! Will let you know what I find.................
http://www.bluevelvetvintage.com/40-s-Vintage-Style-Strapless-Black-Chiffon-Glamour-Gown-p-1353.html I kind of like this one, but am afraid it will offer no support in my boobge region..............
http://www.bluevelvetvintage.com/Bettie-Page-50-s-Inspired-Ella-Wiggle-Dress-p-1242.html this is adorable, but am wondering what it would look like on a plus size girl
ides? advice?
Any actual store in Michigan where one could try on dresses like this?
Are you familiar with Igigi.com? Some of their bridal dresses are kind of vintage-esque, especially with the right hair and a birdcage veil and killer heels. And it's all sizes 12-32, and incredibly flattering. Love them!
I've never been on Unique-Vintage before until this thread. HELLO?! I'm SO buying either my rehearsal dinner dress there or the dress I'll wear enroute to our honeymoon. Just gorgeous stuff.
I don't know if this will help because this lady does custom dresses but check it out!Even if you don't find your dress here i'm sure you'll LOVE some of her stuff!
I remember seeing some from Maggie Sottero that had that kind of vibe. Hope these help. She is a wonderful designer for curves. Of course these are a little more bridal than a vintage dress.
http://www.maggiesottero.com/dress.aspx?page=4&style=J1321 (LOVE this back)
http://www.maggiesottero.com/dress.aspx?page=9&style=J1267 (this one has a side slit)
http://www.maggiesottero.com/dress.aspx?page=23&style=J1087 (kind of looks 40's ish)

I have found one I am fond of, but would like to see other ideas and dress designs that fit what I am looking for.
Any color or material, plus size (20) 1940's pin-up girl dress.......... slit up the back, etc. Imagine with a birdcage veil and the era hair. It does not have tp be vintage, just a replica.
Ideas? Pictures? Websites? I know you ladies must have some ideas......
