I have a question, if you don’t mind? When looking for plus size dresses, I see very few models or even real brides in tulle dresses – is it that they just don’t suit plus sizes?
I’ve got my heart set on one, but I’ve not yet had the opportunity to try one on for myself – have you ladies tried any on?

my dress is tulle. like, full tulle ballgown. i got it at david’s bridal, but it’s been discontinued recently. they had a couple other tulle options (:
i think the style currently is a lot less tulle and full-skirts, and a lot more slim, mermaid-y styles. that’s why you don’t see much tulle. also, not many dresser are “shown” in plus sizes. hence why you don’t see many.

@colorofmyheart: Thank you. It’s the full ballgown that I like. I’ll keep looking 🙂 x

@MrsBee2B: Keep shopping; they’re out there. I’m on the edge of plus. My gown had to be ordered in an 18 and it’s tulle. The salon where I tried it on didn’t allow photos, so none of me in the dress. Oh, and they LIED through their teeth about the costs. They quoted a price of nearly $100 more than where I ordered, PLUS, told me to add another $40 for the size. According to BBP (where I ordered the dress) there’s no additional charge for the size; she even called the designer while we were on the phone.
Anyway, here’s what I ordered. And can hardly wait to finally arrive:

Mine was a tulle ballgown. I’m a big girl but I thought my dress was perfect for me.

Tulle bride here 🙂 sz 20 bridal.
Looooved it 🙂
cut is more important in fitting your figure than the fabric I think. In fact, tulle is mat, which I think is more flattering than shiney material.

My dress is a 14, and it’s tulle. I agree with PP, tulle is matte, and I think, more flattering than shiny satin.
Tulle plus size dresses are out there! Don’t give up!

I’m also a plus bride (I think my dress was an 18 & I have not been able to ditch my 16 jeans no matter how many hours I spend at the damn gym!!!)
I am wearing thalia by sophia tolli
no pics of me in it but I do have another of a similar girl at the same shop!!!! I was like WTF when I saw this pic online bc I thought someone posted a pic of me!
the back is just a dream http://www-static.weddingbee.com/pics/103834/100_3895.JPG
its actually a slimmer fitting fit and flare “light” with a tulle overlay but I just love it bc I have the look without all the layers and puff that was just overwhelming and hot

I think one reason a lot of plus size brides end up choosing satin is because so many satin gowns have ruching. Ruching can be very flattering and help define your figure.
However, I definitely think there are many full figured ladies out there who look gorgeous in tulle. Seeing Lyndzo’s photos of her lovely gown made me seriously consider changing from my satin dress to a full fluffy tulle skirt!

I tried one on and it looked awful. I looked a lot bigger then I am, it didn’t show my curves off x
