1. I'm an 18/20 and I did a session with our wedding photographer. It was actually the first time we'd met in person! Could have been awkward, but it was SO MUCH FUN, and now there's no way that I'm going to be at all awkward with her on our wedding day. :-)
2. I'll be able to tell you what he thinks after this Valentine's Day, but I think he's going to like them. I love them!
3. Your photographer will know the best poses to flatter a plus-sized lady, but some of the favorites from my shoot were: stretched out tummy-down on the bed, elbow propped on a pillow (no tummy, great cleavage); laying on my back looking up at the camera; a couple corset pics; and a couple full-length ones in my Victorian pin-up outfit (long skirt and cami -- coverage while still being super cute). Oh, oh, and one in a satin robe and ridiculously high heels with my leg propped on the windowsill. My muscles were flexed so hard that I thought my calves were going to knot up, but the result is one AMAZING leg shot. No flub anywhere.
Outfits -- get yourself a corset. Rouge-roses on eBay has great sizes and prices. I actually cheated and wore a pushup under the corset, with the result being seriously awesome boobage. A pretty bra of some sort, if you're like me and like your torso but not your tummy. A satin robe is sexy while still providing coverage. And definitely "whore shoes" of your choice, LOL. My guy isn't a sports enthusiast, but if yours is, his favorite jersey would be a good choice, as would a button-down shirt of his. And if all of this sounds wayyyy too "sexy" for you -- disregard this and just get a cute pajama set or slip or something that you feel comfy in.
Oh my God, I wrote a novel here. But seriously, if your hubby is on board with it, DO IT. You're going to look fabulous and feel like a complete rock star doing it. It's one of the favorite things I've done for this wedding so far.
(PS -- PM me if you want to see my plus-size inspiration board!)
I'm an 18 and had a shoot done and LOVE the results, probably more than DH does. lol. It really was a great experience and I'd recommend it. It is weird, but these photographers do it all the time and it was really empowering. The outfits I liked best were corsets, and I got mine from Fredericks and HerCloset. I also had this really cute bra/panty set that I was nervous about wearing (I do not have a great tummy) but she totally made it work. I also wore one of my hubby's dress shirts and ties, which was fun. I also borrowed some wild shoes, which I loved.
I don't mind sharing some photos because they are really PG-13 since I'm not that racy. haha. Trust me there were TONS of bad photos but we had enough to make a really nice book. She did my hair and makeup as part of the package too, which I recommend.

I have a few other really good shots at home and if I remember, I'll upload a couple of those. The ones DH loved best, if you'll believe it, are the ones that showcased my eyes. Go figure. He did ask if I still had the outfits though. lol
@chrispygal: Your pictures TOTALLY made it on my inspiration board. I'm not surprised that your DH loved the ones with your eyes -- that last one looks like an celeb-endorsement advert for some new "lush lashes" mascara. :-)
@chrispygal: Wow your pictures are amazing! Thanks for sharing, glad that you enjoyed the experience ;) I love the shoes too. and of course he wants to know if you still have the outfits, he probably wants you to model them in person ;)
I think mine will probably be PG13.. Well since I'm shy and already nervous about thinking it might be weird to be in front of the photographer like this.. Nevertheless half naked! Or partial..
I have a corset already but I wouldn't mind getting another one since they do give you a nice figure and make your boobs pop ;) I'll look at Fredericks and HerCloset..
Thanks ladies. :) Here are a couple more of my favorites. I'm so glad I did this, especially now that I'm pregnant with my first child. I know at some point I'll look back at these and remember the "good old days" even though I'm not always thrilled at the time. Have fun, and share some of your PG-13 pics too!

@SportsGal: A white button up, a sexy red lace bra and panty hose with garters are some great ideas. A white button up covers you to make you feel secure, a red peek a boo bra is always sexy at any size and panty hose with garter are sexy and covers legs but is still seductive. Do it, have fun!
@Soladylike: That's a good idea actually! I'll look around and see if I can steal any white dress shirts and see how it looks. Time to find some nice lacy bra sets eh.. haha. No typical t-shirt bras!
I think I will give it a try, just have to phone and see what they say.. I'm just so awkward in front of the camera though and I don't really know how to pose.. so I hope the photographer can give me so I don't look like a fish out of water lol..
But I like what @chrispygal did though, its still sexy and sensual, but leaves something to the imagination.. Like you said you can look back when your order and think "damn I was a bombshell"..
I say if you won it for free, go for it! This blogger features a lot of boudoir shoots and there are some from a few months back that show the woman in a sweater, in a men's shirt, and other suggestive but not completely unclothed outfits. Even though the girls aren't plus sized, the ideas carry over well! Just some inspiration for you.
I intially planned to get boudoir pics taken to give to FI as a gift on our wedding day, but the funding ended up having to go towards other aspects of our wedding :( I would still love to do a boudoir shoot though...maybe the photos could be his gift for our "paper" anniversary.
Hey guys, I deleted some photos that clearly showed my face just for long-term privacy purposes. Sorry. :)
Hey
Just wondering, did you win your shoot from Celebrate Your Sexy? I won a boudoir shoot from a wedding fair in vancouver too!
I actually did a shoot like that for my now FI's bday a couple years ago, soo fun.
I am also about a 14/16 at the moment(then as well) and it was a bit awkward at first but is soo worth it!
@SportsGal: I say GO FOR IT! If your FI loves you the way you are, there's no doubt that he will be thrilled with sexy pictures of you!!! Nerves are natural, but honestly, once you get into the groove of things with the photographer, you will get more comfortable with it. Photographers that do bourdoir shoots are usually VERY good at making girls comfortable and helping you pose. I hope you do it and have tons of fun!
I've recently lost 156 pounds thanks to lapband. I still have 119 pounds to lose but I'm still having a budoir photo session done! My coworker is even throwing me a lingerie shower to give me more options for what to wear.
Photographers are talented, they can make your insecurities look like your best asset. Be confident :)
100% go for it :) I realise u may have reservations now but remember at the time you will have hair and makeup done, amazing lengerie that flaunts your favourite curves, and perhaps even a cheeky glass of bubbly in you too to help you get settled ;) your fiancé finds you sexy and desirable and has chosen you to be his lover, not just his wife, friend, confidant etc- let that give you some radiant inner confidence and strut your stuff! Don't be afraid it's the photographers job to make you feel comfortable and bring out ur best.... Plus u can alwauys choose not to use snaps u don't adore ;) I think embrace ur inner Marilyn Monroe!
@firecutie: Hey yeah it was from that same company, I think they gave out several gift certificates lol.. Now i don't feel that special anymore! haha. Have you called them up yet?
Thanks for your support and kind comments everyone! :) I do agree with you, if the photographer knows what they are doing then they can help with flatting poses or knows what will look best.. Plus assist with photoshop a bit at the end haha. and you are right, our FI's like us now for how we are, curves and all. I mean my future hubby definitely loves my breasts the most so I guess I could flaunt it! Well for his eyes only..
So much inspiration ladies! I reaaaallly want to do this as a wedding day gift to the future hubby but Im a little nervous about the pics (ive only ever seen super fit ladies photos before). I know the FI loves my body but sometimes Im not as huge of a supporter but I think I can suck it up for him and maybe I will love them too. Im hitting the gym 3 or more days a week trying to get myself more comfortable so hopefully all goes well :)
@SportsGal: I AM A 26/28 AND WANT TO DO THEM. YOU WILL BE OK. I AM NERVOUS ABOUT ANYONE TAKING PICS OF ME CAUSE I'M AFRAID OF HOW I WILL LOOK IN THEM, BUT DONT WORY THE ARE PROFESSIOINALS SO IT WILL BE OKAY. AS FOR PROPS...JUST TRY USING BOA'S OR USING A SILK ROBE. MANY WILL HAVE FABRIC TO DRAPE OVER YOU. ALSO FIND THOSE SEXY HEELS THAT YOU'VE BEEN DYING TO WEAR BUT DONT HAVE AN OUTFIT FOR. LOL (WE ALL HAVE AT LEAST ONE PAIR ). THEY WILL GO GREAT IN THOSE PICS.
I HOPE THAT HELPS.
@village_skeptic: I am thinking of doing the same thing but since getting engaged I am too worried about how terrible (I feel like) I look. Your advice is great. Would you mind if I could see some pictures too? I've searched on the internet, and all I find is super skinny girls (it makes me feel like a cow!)
Hi ladies -- I would have posted my board, but it's such a big composite image that I think it would be too small for you to see details. (Also, I wouldn't want to repost any images with Bees' faces who don't want them posted!) So instead...I was able to re-find links to blogged photos of curvy ladies which I used for my board:
I love this shoot from Shannon Sano, which I think is sexy while still strategic: http://www.boudoirbyshannon.com/2011/12/06/fun-boudoir-session/
And this lady is a skinny-mini, but the style is sexy without being super revealing. I definitely used this as an inspiration for one of my looks: http://www.boudoirbyshannon.com/2011/02/17/miss-andi-columbus-ohio-boudoir-photography/
And here are two entries about a plus-size boudoir shoot which is just....she looks amazing.

http://strutbridal.typepad.com/strutbridal/2011/04/wade-lee-transforms-caitlin.html
And here's one or two photos that I did have saved which I think are amazing. Straight-size women, but poses which could flatter women of every size, I think.

Hope this helps, ladies! You all will look amazing. Trust your photographer to make you look good. It's their job. You're not going to look good in every photo, but even pro models don't!
BTW, I showed the photo gallery to my FI for V-Day and told him he could pick ten from me. "No," he says. "My dear, I may very well drop a small fortune on these." Love that man....
@village_skeptic: Aww, such an awesome response from you FI! I bet you rocked that shoot!
I accidently did some the day of my wedding!! I love my photographer (Anne Roberts in the DC/NY area) and she loved my wedding day corset and wanted to take pictures. I haven't seen all the photos yet, but this one may be may favorite of the whole day! I am a 18/20. I am actually laying on my dress.
@loves day: Accidental boudoir for the win! Sorry, that phrase just made me laugh. That's so cool that you guys did that, and you look beautiful!
I am also a size 14/16. I bought mine on a Groupon and was seriously nervous about them. They're going to be for my FI on our wedding day.
My suggestions
- get someone to do your hair at the very least the day of. If you can't afford to randomly get it done, book your session for later in the day and get your hair cut in the am.
- Find a men's dress shirt and a tie. Those were my favourite pics
- Choose lingerie that you're comfortable in.
- let your photographer do his/her thing.
- wear false eyelashes. I was totally against it at first, but my cousin is my hairdresser/makeup artist and she insisted and they made it.

@red_pepper_gal: Love your pictures, especially that first one! Yes -- I wish that I would have had my hair done for the pictures. Weirdly enough, I went from my boudoir shoot to my wedding hair trial. This is the crazy scheduling stuff that happens when you are getting married in a different city than the one in which you live, and have to cram stuff in on visits...

Hey bees,
So I found out apparently I won a free boudoir photo session at a wedding fair I went to last month.. I mean that's cool because I usually don't win free things.. I have actually been interested in possibly having a boudoir photoshoot done.. But I am self conscious about my body since I'm a size 14/16.. So I am a bit nervous and shy about it.. But my DF seems interested in having "sexy pictures" for him :P
My questions:
If you were given the opportunity, would you get it done?
Or have you done it before? What did your hubby/fiance think?
If so, what props, poses, or ideas would you suggest? Any costumes/lingerie you'd suggest?
If you don't mind sharing some of your pics for inspiration I would appreciate it. I haven't fully decided if I am going to go it yet but I am thinking about it.. The catch is I have to get it done by the end of March and I am still trying to loose weight..
Thanks :)
