I got mine online. I ordered three bras. Two fit really well, one fit perfectly. I think I ordered from www.herroom.com... they had a good return policy i remember.
I probably bought 6 different one's and returned them. Although, I did not buy anything else there I actually found my bra at david's bridal. It worked out fantastically! It was a long line and did keep me in and the girls up all night long! I'm a 40DD
My favorite places to buy bras are Fredricks of Hollywood and Lane Bryant, Caciquce or something is the brand! Love it!
I just bought a few at Lane Bryant this weekend (they're currently having a buy 2 get 2 free sale). The ones that I purchased have detachable straps but they also come with clear straps. Let me tell ya, they make the girls look damn good!
@UpstateCait: I couldn't find any long line bras at cacique. That however is where I buy all of my other bras. I love that stinking place !
@mwitter80: I agree I looked at Cacique and no long line bras! Great tip on david's bridal though! It never occurred to me to go there to look for a bra but I guess they probably have the right kind for all different sizes. I am definitely going to go there this week!
@MrsK2be: thanks for the tip! I tried to look online but the places i found had no-return policies which just doesn't fly with me. I'll check this one out!
If you can - I highly recommend going to a professional fitter. I took a trip to NYC just for my bridal bustier. It was well worth it. I went to Orchard Corset and am so happy with my selection and the service is excellent.
It's not doable for everyone but definitely look for a speciality store for this type of thing.
Try this: http://brashop.com/
They have a bra shop near me and they have LOTS of sizes. They will let you return within 30 days, too.
if at all possible, go to a professional store that does european real sizing. most of these stores carry up to like 52K size. you may have seen one of the main stores that do this on oprah called Intimacy, but they only have a few stores in big cities. they do have a list though that have stores that use the same methods in other places. i don't know where in ohio you are, but there are a few there - http://www.myintimacy.com/images/stories/intimacy-retailers.pdf
i'm a DD and they gave me a number of choices in the longline bra style (instead of just 1 style)
@andy113: thanks for that link! Have you ever been to the Full Cup in Alexandria? It looks really nice!
I've been to this place and it's great, but I haven't perused the website so I don't know their return policy for online purchases.
@jindc: i haven't been there but me and my sister (both DDs) went to Trousseau in Vienna for our corset/longline bras http://www.trousseaultd.com/
I have also taken my mom and a few friends there. they're great with fittings and options and do free alterations.
I ordered my bustier from herroom.com. Return policy is great. It took me two trys to find the right one. My seamstress recommended the site.
Update: I just ordered 7 bras (in various styles and sizes) from herroom.com! It was pretty scary to hit confirm on almost $400 worth of bras... but I triple-checked their return policy and they have free shipping so I think this will be the best way to figure out the perfect bra for me. Yay! Thanks so much for the suggestions everyone!
@CorgiTales: I loved the one I got from herroom.com for my wedding. I hope one of the many (haha!) you ordered works for you!
@CorgiTales: so glad you checked out herroom.com and liked it!
I ordered four and returned two right away, then kept two to wear to my dress fittings until we chose the perfect one for the dress. They let me return all three with no problems - so don't worry!
I got my bra at Bombshell Bridal in Michigan. They carry plus size longline bras with a fantastic fit, and they are in stock, OR they can be custom ordered to your exact mrasurements. Not to mention, it is the most comfortable longline I have ever worn.
I got mine at Frederick's, around $60, after trying several others with no luck at all. I'm also very busty and I've had 2 kids so I needed superior uplift and some shaping in the waist. It's a merry widow sort of thing with hooks & eyes plus a zip front. It's the "lace inset corset" on the website, I think (comes in white and black). I can't remember the exact size I bought but I think I needed to go down a size from my usual bra size; I seem to remember it running big.
Whatever the consultant at DB put on me worked well too, but I didn't write down the style number or any of that and never did go back there to purchase something as I ended up getting my dress on eBay.
I actually got mine at David's Bridal. They have different sized bands that attach to the cup. I'm a 38DD with a tummy and it fit and was comfortable.
Lane Bryant! I buy all my bras there. In fact, it's the only place (where I live) I can fine cute or sexy bras in plus size . My strapless bra is from there and comes with straps to use if I need them.
The woman who is doing my alternations sells undergarments suprisingly enough. Ask the alternation department where you bought your dress
Update! I got all 7 bras from herroom.com within a week! I found one that fit perfectly and sent the rest back. Super super easy! Plus, the one I ended up keeping was only $55 (+ free shipping to me and + $10 shipping the rejects back). So my total cost was $65 for a super comfortable longline bra that I'll honestly maybe just use all the time instead of a strapless bc it stays up so well! Cheaper than the $75 option at DB and I like it a whole lot more :)

I have my first dress fitting on Jan 20 and I have not yet found a bra. My dress is strapless and I think I want/need a long-line or corset type bra to keep the girls up. I tried my dress on with a normal strapless and my boobs just got kind of squished down rather than pushed up. The problem is that I'm a 40D and I am having the hardest time finding a store that carries a long-line type bra in that size! I have found some in 38D but they're really uncomfortable and I hate wearing too-small stuff. I'm really not concerned about it being "shapewear" so long as it holds me up, but I"m open to whatever. Ideas?
