I'm a few weeks before our wedding and I'm kind of freaking out that people won't be able to lift me in the chair...this might be irrational, but I'm a plus-sized bride and I have this fear of a bunch of people trying to lift the chair and not being able to lift me, while my husband soars around in the air because he weighs less than I do.

Is this crazy?  Can anyone offer reassurance if they've lived through it?   I'm really worried about feeling like a complete fattie on my wedding day as a result of this dance :(

I was afraid of this and I gotta be honest, I slid out of the chair. However, I had a bunch of girls holding me up and they were all supporing the back of the chair not the front! Mr. Hedgie who weighs much more than me had his guys lift and he didn't fall or even faulter once. I understand the fear but as long as you have a bunch of strong men under you and supporting you equally all around, you will be fine!

I have a fear of this too!  And my FI is no small man himself.  I'm opting to just not do it unless we lose a shitload of weight before then.

I do too. I've been warning my fi friends that they better hit the gym in prep to lift me. I think having a chair with arms will help too.

At my wedding they were able to manage my husband who is over 6 ft tall and not a skinny guy...you should be fine. Also though spread the word to the stronger guys that you want their help. I also bought lightweight chairs with arms for about $20 at Lowes and they worked really well.
