@amyechelon:  Where in Australia are you? When I went shopping for my dress I saw lots of plus sized girls trying dresses on – either that fit them or that had to be pinned and then they’d order the right size. If you are in SA I can recommend a few that I saw had plus size gowns.

@amyechelon:  I’ve been shopping in Canberra and Sydney, Sydney has some great ones with plenty of bigger options! Im a bridal 22 AUS and I tried on at least 30 gowns over a weekend 🙂

EDIT: Dependingon what your budget is these bridal places may still be too expensive. The gowns I tried on ranged from $1200 to $2500, which is too much for me. Im ordering from Dressilyme – I wouldn’t trust JJHouse.

@amyechelon:  Yeah you’re not going to find a whole lot of options under $1000k in Australian bridal shops. I know of a few places in my city that have some dresses under that but it is quite expensive here sadly! I spent $1700 (which still had 10% discount off) – my FI thought I would spend like 3k, lol. No way!

There are some plus size bridal shops in your area.  I went to Google Maps and zoomed in on Victoria and typed in “Plus Size wedding” and a couple specialty shops popped up.

I went to one here in the states and it was such a great experience.

@amyechelon:  Go to Fairytale Bridal in Croydon (suburb of Melbourne) and make an appointment with Carmella if she is available. It was the first and last bridal store I went to. They don’t have a huge range of plus sized dresses but I was able to try on about 8 and managed to find “the one” (and I am around the same size as you). Most importantly their service was fantastic from beginning to end and I was treated like any other ‘beautiful’ bride, regardless of the fact that I was plus sized. I did see some dresses in your price range but you may have to make compromises. Also, can I suggest you go there when they have a designer day? Google “Roz La Kelin Glamour Plus” who does plus sized dresses. If you purchase one of her dresses on the designer day you get a 10% discount. Also, when I was originally looking at dresses I seen one of hers online that I absolutely loved so when I heard she was going to be at Fairytale bridal I rang them to see if they stocked that dress which they did not so I contacted the designer via her facebook page and she actually bought in the dress which they had in their warehouse for me to try on, and it was ALMOST my dress.

Sorry this is long but hopefully it helps you!

I’m a US plus size 22. not sure how that compares to a australian size 26. I’ve been really worried about having the “perfect dress”. Ive actually have been threw 3 dresses now and have dress #4 on the way this week. idk if you already have a style or a certain dress in mind. for me i just keep changing my mind and the first one i ordered way too early and ended up out growing. anyway if you find one you like i suggest you check out dhgate.com. its a chinese wholesale site. they can custom make it to your size or if you want anything custom done to it too. i’ve ordered all 4 of my dresses from there and they are crazy cheap. my most expensive one was only $200!
