Plus size/regular size annoyances!

Nothing a good tailor can’t fix. As a plus size girl I find the designers sometimes assume you have a gut and no waist… so not true for this hourglass figure! I always have to take dresses in at the waist.

It’s frustrating, but fixable. Love the dress, btw! I have one similar to it from Nordstrom.

Are your bridesmaids planning on having their dresses altered?  I wouldn’t necessarily assume that the dresses will look like they do on the model.  Either size could easily turn out looking quite baggy or quite fitted.

@bridgetdarling:  It looks like the exact same style but it looks like the model wearing it doesnt have the figure for the dress and that is why the dress looks like that on her. The best thing you can do is have your BMs try on the dress and see if they all look good in it.

Yes, It doesn’t look good on the model at all. (Personally) I don’t think low, natural waist dresses look good on plus size girls. I am a dress size 24 and have never found one that I look good in. The seam is hitting right on the largest part of the body.

This is a beautiful dress, but I am going to be honest that it’s not going to be a great look for many plus size women. Personally, I would never be able to pull it off. It’s particularly bad for any women that might have larger chests and/or stomachs. If your girls are relatively “bottom heavy” with larger hips and not much in the bust, then it might work much better. Are you looking for any specific color? What is your budget?

You might check out some more non-mainstream dress sites, like Pinup Girl Clothing. Sometimes big business like Nord’s just take a “skinny girl” dress and blow it up, not at all taking a full-figure into account. Sometimes you have to find more obscure sites for awesome plus sized dresses 🙂

For example, this is a badass dress and you’d never see it at Macy’s or Neiman Marcus:

Have you looked at ModCloth? How about JCrew?

@bridgetdarling:  Very cute dress! I was debating about buying this dress for my bridal shower!

But I think that they can have it tailered.
