I just started bellydancing lessons! They’re fun, and SUCH a workout! 🙂

FI and I were in a total workout rut.  We are about to start week 3 of P90x!  It’s kicking our butts and we’re really trying hard to keep up and do all 90 days!  And we have 90 days left til the wedding! Lol

I so wish we lived in a bigger city. I would love to do diverse classes like these, but, sadly, nothing like this is offered anywhere close to us. So, I stick to running, walking, and (pansy) weightlifting sometimes. 🙁

Sounds like you’re taking full advantage of your awesome resources. Go you!

Slacklining girls its what Im starting here. Set up is about 80$ but you have it for life and can do it anywhere where there are 2 trees. Its a great whole body work out which tones your body. Depending on how scared you are of heights you can try boldering (a form of rock climbing) which has no ropes but you can stay low to the ground and have have crash pads under you if you fall.

I started Bar Method and I do that 4-5x/week.  I enjoy it in a masochistic way – it’s a killer!

I wouldn’t worry about lifting your weight in pole/aerial dance… I’ve been doing it for about 2 years now & love every minute of it. If I’m not feeling comfortable with something I’ll just put mats or pillows around my pole in case I fall- nothing other than some ugly bruises! If your taking classes I would talk to the instructor about your fears, she should be able to recommend some more grippy & stable moves for you  to play with before advancing…

When I get in a rut with pole dancing I turn on youtube & look for alternative workout videos- like acro yoga, handstand variations, & power yoga….

What was your issue with barre classes? I have been taking pure barre & doing paleo since January and have seen a CRAZY difference.

Remember that weight loss is 80& diet & 20% exercise. I would take a look at what you’re eating & that might be a cue to where the rutt is coming from. If you have a pure barre close to you they offer a bride package for 3 months…you should totally do it!!!

Whenever I feel like I’m in a rut, I always revert back to doing something I like or better yet love. That way you never feel like you’re working out. For me, that’s dance. I also love to swim especially on my lazy days since it’s non-impact and the water always energizes me.  I also try to think of things FI and I can do together, so we go hiking and biking a lot.

Definitely try new things! It keeps you refreshed and not bored! I do yoga (power and bikram), pilates, and ballet on a regular basis. I’ve also done aerial silks, trapeze, rock climbing, spin and just about every form of dance (jazz, hip hop, ballroom, etc and my new faves bellydancing and polynesian). Funny thing is I haven’t tried this Zumba craze yet.

I do think you need some upper body strength to do aerial silks, but even the easy stuff you can get a great workout from. And over time, you’ll get that upper body strength. I’ve always wanted to try Pure Barre but the classes are kind of pricey around here. The trick is to try new things and find something you enjoying doing! Then it’s more fun than ‘working out.’ At least that’s what I try to tell myself, haha 🙂
