So I’ve taken a few pole fitness classes, and I LOVE THEM. I’ve finally found something I enjoy doing for fitness and that I will stick to. I go here http://www.dancesaltlake.com/. It’s pretty awesome: they have trapeze and silks classes in addition to pole classes. All the women I saw there have amazing bodies, especially arms and abs. I can’t wait to get to that point.
I just like the fact that I feel like I improve so fast. If during one class I seriously struggle to do a spin, the next week when I try that same move I’m usually able to. I took my first class in a few weeks tonight, and some of the spins are like riding a bicycle! Now that I know where the muscles are supposed to go and what it’s supposed to feel like, and I haven’t forgotten.
I’ve never been good at sports, ever ever ever, could never dance or anything. I think I’ve found my calling here even if it’s maybe taboo.
It doesn’t hurt that SO thinks it’s a cool hobby for me to have! 😉
Has anybody else tried pole fitness? What do you think?

I used a Groupon and took 3 pole dancing classes last week. I thought they were a lot of fun and were definitely a really good arm workout.
The big negative I see to them is they are quite pricey (at least they are everywhere I’ve ever seen them) so you’re forking over a lot of cash if you want to go consistently.

@Mrs.KMM: Defffinitely. I told SO he could buy me a nice, sturdy portable pole as a gift to himself. 😉 There’s enough lessons online it could definitely be done!
I’ve done all mine through Groupons, as well.

@bcg0207: That’s awesome! Have you checked if there’s any near you, as well? I know I was shocked when I found out it was offered in SLC.. Haha.
