I am having a very southern wedding in New Orleans on March 27th. It will be an outdoor wedding and recpition and I was wanting my overall theme to be a vintage (50’s) Polka dot garden wedding. My mother thinks I am insane. My colors are coral, light orange and peach. My invites have polka dots and I will add a few other polka dot touches (not over kill). We will have buffett style food. I want lots of color and was thinking hobnail vases and bowls to add the retro touch.
What do you ladies think of this theme? Does it sound ugly/tacky? I just think of it as a Old School Southern picnic style.

I had a bit of an underlying polka dot theme and my wedding was in a garden. I think it’s adorable as long as there’s not polka dots as far as the eye can see. Polka dots are fabulous!

We’re doing a 1950s polka dot theme too! Except we’re going more into the rockabilly/pinup 50s with black and white with red and aqua.

I am doing the pinup look for my bachelorette party. I am happy I am not the only one that has these same idea. My mom makes me feel like my ideas will be a huge flop and it will look like a mix match of everything. What are some things you are doing to tie in your theme?

It sounds amazing 🙂 As long as it’s not over done then you will be just fine and be perfect! What matters is you love it! 🙂

The only real polka dot touches I have currently are in the invites and thanks, the cake will have them, round paper lanterns in the colors, and hobnail vases. Oh and the glasses that I am custom making for the bridal party. I don’t plan on adding any more polka dot stuff really. That isn’t overkill is it?
Sorry, my mom just has me second guessing myself

I love polka dots, they are so much fun! But dear FH loathes them with a passion, don’t know why, must be a man thing.
If you like it, and your FH has no qualms, I say go for it. Throw together some inspiration boards or pull some up from the internet to show your mom some of the elements you like & how you want it to look, maybe she just can’t visualize it!
