Thanks for this post! I am wondering about the same thing, am 34 now (35 in Feb) and we will probably only get married in late 2015 or even in 2016. Only then will we start considering children. So this will be very interesting.

I’m 36, well turned 37 yesterday, and am 15 weeks pregnant.  I got pregnant with my first on our first try.  I haven’t been on the pill in years so knew my cycle pretty well. I didn’t chart temps or anything but have been keeping track of periods for a couple years.

I would get on it right away, as soon as you get married, or even right before you get married. If you aren’t pregnant within a few months, get to the doctors to find out if there are any problems. That way you won’t lose time while you continue trying.

One of my best friends started TTC when she was 37. She is now 41 and still trying. She and her hubby have spent tens of thousands at fertility clinics, and at this point they’re praying for a miracle. They’re very sorry that they didn’t start trying sooner, and that they didn’t seek help sooner.

Good luck to you and congratulations on your upcoming wedding!

If you have irregular cycles, start charting a few months before you start trying. Then you can hit the ground running. I am 35.5 (DH is 40) and we got pregnant the first cycle we had the timing right.

    Good luck!

I started TTC at 38. Got pregnant the 4th cycle. Unfortunately, that need in a MC. got a BFP on the 4th cycle after that and my daughter is now 3 months.

Mi gave birth at 39. Come 2015, I expect we’ll work on abother child 🙂

Steph77:  My, non-expert, advice to you is to start tracking your periods now and get off the pill if you are on that.  My periods were never 28 days every month but tracking it for years made things a bit more clear. We made sure to have sex during my fertile window and it worked.

I wasn’t expecting to get pregnant that quickly but I’m happy I did, of course.

I am going to be 35 next week and DH is 44 and we started trying around 7 months ago. Some months we try harder than others so I guess we are more NTNP than TTC. If I don’t get pregnant by Christmas we will both get checked to make sure everything is ok. Sometimes I get stressed out and wonder if there is something wrong but lately we have been more relaxed about it, we just have to BD more especially during my FW. I was one of those people that thought it would happen the first time off the pill, boy was I wrong! LOL

Steph77:  I’m 35 and in my 16th cycle TTC after 2 MCs and a chemical pregnancy. So it’s been about 20 months. However, my older sister (38) got pregnant on her first cycle with her son and again on her first cycle trying for #2 And is now 7 months pregnant. I don’t think she’s any healthier than me or there were other factors that would have let me know it would be harder for me (no family history etc). I really think you just have to go for it and hope for the best. Get testing done at 6 months if you’ve no luck and be really pushy.  Personally , Id be tTC a couple of months be for the wedding to get going on things.
