Pumpkin is one of the most amazing fucking things ever devised by man.

Protip: the best drink at Starbucks is a no-water chai with the pumpkin spice syrup.

I think pumpkin spice is one of those really polar flavors – people either love it or really, really hate it usually. I really, really hate it :-). I wish I liked it! So many fun things come in that flavor this time of year!

    Pumpkin flavored anything is amazing.

But I’d do a layer of chocolate just in case.

Absolutely! I love anything with pumpkins! However, I can think if quite a few people I know who don’t like pumpkin so I think you should have two flavors.

Mmmmmm, that sounds AMAZING. As much as I would love it, I do know a few people who would not eat a pumpkin cake (lame!!), so maybe two flavours would be best?

@memleyxx:  A resounding YES for pumpkin cake! 🙂 I smiled seeing your post knowing you had to be an autumnal bride-to-be. I say a pumpkin and chocolate layer each just in case.

I’m going to represent the minority and say that I can’t stand pumpkin plavor. It tastes to me like it used to be a good flavor, but has since been digested and regurgitated… sorry, just personal taste. Every fall I end up going to events where I can’t have any dessert because pumpkin is the popular option of the season, and I would rather starve. I know this isn’t common, but it’s also such a big trend to be obsessed with anything pumpkin, that I never say anything to avoid people spazzing out in disbelief. It would be like having to defend the fact that you don’t like fireworks and grilling on the 4th of July. I know some other people are the same way, and simply don’t mention their pumpkin dislike, so it could be more common than it seems. It would be very considerate of you to have at least a small quantity of another flavor for folks like me.

I’ve never tried anything sweet that is flavoured with pumpkin – my pumpkin consumption has always been savoury (soup, savoury muffins, etc.).  I’m not entirely convinced that I would like sweet pumpkin (although I think pumpkins in the US are perhaps slightly different to the pumpkins we have here in NZ?).  In saying that, I’ll give anything a go, so I wouldn’t mind if there were only one flavour.  I may not like it, but I’d want to at least try it.

I agree about keeping an alternative for people who aren’t into pumpkin. I love it but my FI complains whenever I put pumpkin in anything, even if I’m just trying to sneak in a small amount. So I’ve had several perfectly good cans of pumpkin collecting dust in the pantry for over a year now 🙁 He’d be happy with the chocolate cake though!

We had pumpkin as one of our cupcake flavors, and it was the most popular. We got married in October so it went well with the theme and season.

I LOOOOOOOVE pumpkin! SO I would rather enjoy that. But it is a unique taste I feel like people either love it or hate it. I would do a mix.
