@orchidblooms:  Folic acid is really the only necessary vitamin required while TTC unless there are other complication that need further treatment. since you have pcos, metformin might be needed further along the line, but hopefully it wont come to that. good luck!

@orchidblooms:  boy do i know what you mean. It’s so frustrating not being able to lose weight. Metformin certainly helps, but there needs to be combination of healthy eating and exercise for it to work properly! I have iron deficiency too, and I’m taking Ferograd and vitamin C, since my OB gyn says that it could play a factor when TTC.

meds really help, but it’s awesome that you’re working on your diet first 🙂 keep it up!

I took prenatals a few times a week while ttc and just folic acid the rest of the time.  I hate prenatals they make me constipated.  Otherwise i eat pretty well and am in good shape becAuse I’m a fitness trainer.

@orchidblooms:  We are not actively TTC at the moment but are preparing to next year….I decided now that I want a healthy body to help TTC out (I am over weight now….and want to get down to a HEALTHY pre-baby weight which for me is about 165lbs….I have about 70 more to go fromw where I am now!) I have decided to do it slowly and start eating healthy like I would during pregnancy (lots of lean protiens, fruits and veggies!)….and taking pre-natal vitamins to help my hair and nails get better before the wedding!!

Soo yeah I am making eating changes and vitamin changes before TTC….I just want to be healthy! For me and for future babies….I figure if I get healthy before I will want to loose all the baby weight and re-gain my figure, because if I dont do it before, It will seem like alot more to get back to pre-pregnancy weight and then to ideal weight I think! for me anyways!

I meant to start prenatals while TTC, but we started after the wedding, then went on the honeymoon, and I came back pregnant! So I didn’t actually start them until I was 4 weeks pregnant.

As for eating, I ate REALLY healthily before TTC, so I didn’t change anything. Though when I got pregnant I added animal protein and carbs to my diet. Mostly because I craved them.

I started eating better to be healthier a few weeks before we started to ttc. I obviously fall off the band wagon and drink lots of starbucks and eat lots of Wendys now and then. But overall healthier before ttc.

I take prenatals now to help with my skin/hair and because we aren’t sure when we will start trying TTC again. I’m also trying to lose weight before I get pregnant. It’s not easy.
