I didn't count but I feel like about 50 dresses. It was probably one of the most frustrating things for me in the planning. I seriously thought I wouldn't find one for awhile!!

I tried on close to 50 dresses and I ended up getting the first one I tried on...ever!
The first dress I tried on was the one. However, I thought that was too easy and too impulsive, so I tried on a bunch more (about 4-5) and realized the one is well....the one.

I went dress shopping only one day, tried on 5, and picked the 3rd dress or so. In hindsight, I wish I would have tried on a LOT more dresses! That's kind of a rite of passage that I kind of breezed through.
I tried on 40-50 dresses and never quite found the one, all the dress consultants I went to in the beginning didn't listen to what I wanted and kept bringing me some of the fugliest dresses.
I've tried on SOOO many (lost count) and haven't had the "OMG THIS IS THE ONE" feeling. I have a few more months until I HAVE to order it....so i guess I better keep trying!
@ali945-- I love that of all those dresses it was the first!! =)
The one I ended up buying was probably the 5th or 6th dress I tried, but I tried on lots and lots more afterwards. I couldn't get THE dress out of my head for weeks afterwards, and I knew I had to go back and buy it!! :)
I tried on 20-30 dresses before I found The Dress. I thought I was looking for something completely different when I started shopping. It wasn't until I started trying things on that I changed my mind.

My dress was the very first one I tried on! I tried about about 30 after that one, but kept referring to the first one as MY dress. And now it is!
I didn't count, but it was likely somewhere around 30. I nearly settled on a dress somewhere around the 25 count, putting it on hold to come back after I tried one last shop, but found "the one" in about the 3rd dress I tried on at the next store.
I didn't count but I did an average of 6 per store and 11 stores. You can do the math ;)
Of course it is like that with everything I do. I saw nearly 100 houses before I bought mine, and when I applied to residency, most people interview at between 5-10... not me, I had to check out 21.
What can I say, I like options!
I think I tried on around 4 or 5 before finding the one :)

I tried on about 75 dresses!! I was about to give up and just order the jcrew sophia out of desperation when I finally found my dress at a store I had already visited three times. Yay for perseverence!
My wedding was originally next January, very formal winter wedding, and the dress I picked out for that was the first or second I tried on. I tried on more, but fell in love wth the one. BUT we moved the wedding to this May, and it's a really casual, light, spring-y wedding, so the original dress was out. Now I'm having mine custom made, because what I liked was several elements from different dresses, time's short, and it's cheaper! So I said I tried on 6-10 dresses, but in the end, none of them were the one, they were just parts of it!
I honestly don't know how many dresses I tried on. I know we tried 6 in traditional stores , but we went to The Running of the Brides and I feel like I tried on dozens there!! My arms ached for days from lifting the dresses from to and from the racks.

I think I tried on about 5 before I found my gown. Then I went and tried on a whole bunch more but came back to "the One."
i think i tried on 7 dresses. i'm starting to get dress anxiety because it's been so long since i have seen my dress.

I tried on probably 15 or so, and then bought my dress online having never tried it on or seen it in person, and had only tried on the brand (Maggie Sottero) in a size too large. Daring:)
I probably tried on around 20. I ended up with one of the first ones I had seen on the internet. I had sooo much dress shopping- I think I tried on dresses just for the fun!

I was lucky and knew with the first one I tried on. I tried on 7 to be safe but went back to the first one that caught my eye.
