    I’d love an antique/used/preloved ring.

I’d say that it can only hold more love and now it’s yours to show more love (mushy, I know)

Of course! both of my engagement rings antique and one is heirloom. I LOVE the idea that someone else before you has had that ring. Who knows who it was! My ring is 103 years old and I like to think it was a wealthy doctors gift to his wife. (Its engraved dec 25 1911.) you’re giving something new purpose. If it didnt come from a happy marriage, give it a happy marriage. I don’t believe in bad juju.

Totalkaos1983:  I knew this couple and she had one of the most beautiful engagement rings I had ever seen. Vey large and very vintage. It was beautiful! And she has insisted that her ring come from a pawn shop.

Totalkaos1983:  My mum recently went with my dad to find a replacement eternity ring as her original is wearing. She came back with an antique old mine cut eternity from the 20s. It’s SO beautiful. You can’t find anything like it new.

I am all about recycling.. Not to mention I think the weight of gold that you get in products today is much lighter than what you would have gotten 20 years ago because of the price. My husband’s wedding band was an estate piece and it is a night heavy piece of gold with 3/4 carat SI1 diamonds with a mixture of white and yellow gold which weighed 9 grams. we got that puppy for $499 from an estate dealer on Etsy…. I was so happy. And I would have gladly taken an estate diamond. MOst of my statement pieces of jewelry are estate pieces and I have really found some unique pieces at rock bottom prices.. I say go for it.

Totalkaos1983:  I would be okay with it. My only concerns would be in regards to a warranty and a guarantee on the diamond. However, you could always get it appraised and insured that way it is covered in the event something happens to it.

Absolutely! Both my partner’s engagement ring and mine are antique rings from Etsy. We were able to get something great in our budget! I think buying used gives you more variety to choose from and more of a budget to work with. And it’s a really good choice for buying diamonds because you’re re-using them! 🙂

It would really depend. Would I be okay with any old $50 pawn shop ring? Probably not.. unless it was a super awesome ring with plenty of diamonds.

It’s not that I’m shallow, the ring I’m currently wearing was only $600 with insurance [new]. It’s just that I work hard for my money and I feel like I should wear something I love. It would really tick me off if I was only given a ring that costs less than one of our cell phones.

If it was a really nice ring for a really deep discount at a pawn shop, I’d have no problem with it.
