Everyone's house related posts have gotten me dreaming! We won't have a house for a while, but I am excited for when we do and can PAINT! I love the bedding in our master bedroom, and right now it goes well with the exposed brick walls we have. I was wondering today, though, what color we would paint the walls when we move it into our master bedroom in our "grown up" house. I thought I'd make a poll for fun!

Below is a picture of a similar bedding set, though the orange is a little brighter/deeper. The obvious choice is a shade of brown, but I think that might be too boring and too dark. We could go in the jewel tone direction with a deep red or eggplant, or go cool with a pale green. I like the olivey color in that picture, but I was thinking we could even go with a shade of grey.

So vote people - let me know what you think! :)

I think grey is a really great colour---very on-trend, in my opinion.  But really, you have to ask yourself what colour combo makes you personaly happy?!

Grey, or pale pale green! Too dark green could make the room look like the great pumpkin. ;)

I voted for deep red because I love deep red paint!  But really, any of the colors you listed would go well with burnt orange.  I might stay away from the eggplant though.  Those colors might look a little Halloweeny...

Definitely grey. Then you can have black (easy to find) accessories if you want.

    Lampshades, candles, pillows, etc.

    It would look great!

Oh man, I can't choose. I've always lived in REALLY colourful houses, and I told my FI whenever we get our own house, It's going to be just as colourful. I might do a medium green with that bedding though... Olive would not be the shade I personally choose. Maybe maple leaf green?

I chose grey only because we have grey accent walls in our bedroom and I LOVE it. When we move from this apt, I'll probably have to paint our new bedroom walls the exact same color because I love it so much!

I'm in for brown, because I find grays to be very stark, cold and flat, even nice grays.  You could do 2 similar shades of brown, a darker (not too dark) and one several shades lighter on opposing walss (not a feature wall, but just add some contrast for dimension).  I personally love the natural based brown tones, I find it much more relaxing and soothing in a bedroom than gray. I feel orange can be such a warm colour against browns, but too vibrant for my tastes against gray.

I have that color accented in my bedding and my walls are a warm green. I'll caution you though, I wouldn't paint my walls based on bedding colors unless you plan to stick in that theme. Pick a wall color you'll love that you can change bedding to in that color palate. Bedding gets boring, trust me. I have winter/fall bedding and then spring/summer and I'm always itching for a change.

We have a brown living room with burnt orange accents. These colors make the room really cozy and warm. Try it!

A nice gray blue color would look great with that.  Take a look at Benjamin Moore Van Courtland blue.  I have it in a couple of rooms in my house and people rave over it.  (In my house, it looks a little more muddy of a blue than it does in this picture, but I thought with the touch of orange it might help you see how nice it could look together.)

Wow, thank you for all of your suggestions! This is fun :)

I'm surprised to see grey #1 in the polls - I am kind of with @Take The Reins in that greys can be so flat, and I am really more into warm/jewel-toned colors. While it's boring, I am leaning toward brown (#2 in the poll), but maybe doing two different walls as suggested or with some sort of finish/treatment to dress it up. That would be most versatile if we ever change our bedding, to @MissGreen's very good point!

I will say I wish there were more votes for deep red - any reasons why that wouldn't be the best choice? :)

@namarie: Sorry, I meant to respond to your suggestion as well because it was creative and that room is beautiful! Unfortunately I think the tone of our bedding will clash with that shade, but I think it would be a gorgeous living room color! It seems like such a nice backdrop for so many of my favorite colors - taupe, grey, yellow... yum!

I voted grey but its soooo hard to decide on paint colors without seeing the room. It depends on the shape, the amount of windows/light, etc. I always buy a million paint samples and leave them up for a few days before deciding on a color, and I usually end up going with the one I least expect at the beginning!
