I am going to be starting as a florist in a couple of months. To build my portfolio I want to do flowers at cost for weddings. I wanted your opinions. I have a couple of options. Please choose two answers. One for where I should provide flowers, and the other for how much I should charge when building my portfolio. Thanks in advance

I guess it depends a little bit on what your end goal is. If you ultimately want to be doing a combination of fake and real flowers, then maybe you should start with that. But if your goal is to only do real flowers, I don’t think you gain a lot by doing fake. Or I should say, none of the florists I looked at also did fake. If I came across someone who did, I probably would assume they weren’t doing the kind of work I wanted (which is full service flowers, i.e. ceremony and reception decor and BP flowers).

I’m not sure if it would benefit me to have an etsy with custom fake flowers on it. I would rather do all real flowers and locally then it would be easier to build a name for myself and have recommendations from brides.
