Need your help, Bees! I had my second dress fitting today and didn’t like the bustle that the seamstress had created (even though I went along with it at the first fitting because she said it wasn’t final). I asked her to show me alternatives, and she said this or a a French (under?) bustle were pretty much the only 2 options for this dress. Both look ugly and sloppy to me. 🙁 What do you think?
#1. I think she said it had 3 pickup points? The lace and contrast underlay are hooked separately:
#2. French/under bustle):
Or, anyone know of a better alternative to these that I can show my fitter? THANKS!!!

I like the 2nd one. I think it actually looks cute tucked under like that. I never paid much attention to bustles on brides before, I figured they are just meant to be practical and not the most gorgeous thing in the world

I like the second one! It looks like it’s supposed to be there. The other one kind of looks like a pillow shoved up your dress haha.

Is a wrist loop an option? I feel like it could be annoying, but you could dance like Cinderella!

AvaG: sorry but I think the dress shape in general is not brilliant for your body shape

Jslack61: that is so rude…. This is this stunning brides chosen dress… No need to add another worry to the mix And to say that when she was not asking for opinions on the shape of the dress is a bit mean.
I like the bustle number two and I also think you have a killer figure and it looks great

I like bustle #2 and I love the details in your dress. Not to mention how stunning your figure looks.

Jslack61: are you just going around on all dress posts posting that? rude

cirk: That’s exactly what she’s doing!!! I looked at her commenting history. It’s sick. I wonder how miserable she must be to feel the need to cut people down constantly!
Missjan2015: Exactly!! Well said!

SgrPlum12: some people are so awful…. The bee is not for people to be nasty to one another but a place to find support and encouragement. I hope they disable her account all she is doing is posting nasty comments!

Thank you ladies for your input. Looks like #2 is the clear winner. I still don’t feel like it looks awesome, just slightly less sloppy than the 1st. But I get what Lily_of_the_valley‘s saying about practicality vs. appearance…<br />
It kind of annoyed me that the seamstress and her supervisor were all, “Don’t worry, you can change your mind” at the first fitting…then, at this second fitting, without her supervisor around, the seamstress acted all annoyed that I asked her for other options—and gave me only two. There were other things we discussed at the first fitting too that she acted like she was hearing for the first time. Ugh. I feel like calling the supervisor with my concerns but I just don’t have a better idea or photo to show her, or (with my wedding a month away) much time or energy to deal with it… 🙁

I don’t know if it would work on your dress well, but there is one called a ballroom bustle where the skirt is pulled up in a way to look like there just was never a train. http://www.leanna.com/Bustle/Bustles.shtml
Has lots of pics and names.
I think the over bustlet would be okay, it just seems to need more points to make it lay flatter.

chasesgirl: that’s such a helpful website. I plan on doing the ballroom bustle for my dress. Hopefully that will work for the OP as well.
