Okay bees… I swear I’m getting close on the shoe front… I’ve bought (and returned) over a dozen pairs so far, but I think I’m getting there!
I bought two pairs of Grupo Menbur heels from Endless.com, the Vertumno Slingbacks and the Vienna Peep Toe Pumps. They came yesterday… and I love them both…
I feel like the style of the slingback matches well with my dress (the color too), but the color of the pumps matches the ivory really well too, as it’s more of a plum color than a purple… more muted I guess? Both are equally comfortable, with the same heel height of 3.25″.
I will also be wearing a birdcage veil with ivory flower fascinator, rather than the veil in the picture from my shopping excursion, just so you can get a better idea of the look I’m going for…
Here’s my dress, in white… I bought it in ivory:

What do you think?! Which should I choose?!

I like the pumps the best!

i love the slingbacks best!!! I think they will photograph great!

Pumps all the way! If you have any crinoline under your dress, you don’t want it getting caught in the slingback.

Oh, and if you could comment as to why you chose what you did, that would be helpful too! I’m just having a hard time justifying one over the other, so I’d love to hear other people’s opinions!

I think the color in the slingbacks stands out more!! I like them best!

i keep going back and forth as to which i like better. but if the pumps match better colorwise, i say go for them.

Def. Pumps!!! Slingbacks are really pretty but the pumps are to die for!!!! 🙂

Slingbacks! I think the color is prettier on them and I’ve always thought slingbacks are sexier than pumps.

I love the sexiness of the slingbacks, and they’re more of a satin finish, which I think dresses them up a little bit… but if I were to stick solely to the “vintage” look with the dress and birdcage veil, then more muted plum would be more in “theme”… though the slingbacks would give it a more “modern/vintage” look, if that makes sense… ARGH!

I prefer the pumps. Though both are very pretty. I think that either will work wonderfully

So I just got this back from a friend, and I can see what she means:
The tone of the sling backs is “truer” and the finish is all satin shiny looking. I don’t know how to word it to make sense, but the “personality” of your ivory fabric and the tone and brushed (?) finish of the pumps is a strong “personality” too. I think the sling backs would compliment the tone and fabric of your gown, not compete with it, if that makes any sense whatsoever.
I’d have to see the pumps in person with the dress to know. If you went with the pumps it would be 100% vintage all the way because of the color and texture. You could pull it off, but like I said you’d really have to see them in person against the fabric. The yellow undertone of the ivory could make the red undertone of the pumps overwhelming.

love the slingbacks – I like that loopy thing of fabric on the front. The other ones look kind of like dressed up secretary shoes to me 🙂
