First time creating a post! Trying to decide what to do about my wedding day makeup, so asking for advice!
If you did do your own makeup, please let me know if you found a makeup product you absolutely adored and would recommend 🙂

I plan on taking many other Bees’ lead and go to Sephora for a makeup tutorial.

I’ll be getting my make-up professionally done by one of the Pink Ladies of Phonix Cosmetics. I’ve done a make-up lesson with them before and I learnt so much that I could do my own make-up but since I’ll be going to them anyway to get eyelash extensions put in and to get my upper back tattoo covered up (to appease mother dear), I figured that I might get them to do my make-up.

I’m doing my own but as I never wear makeup I won’t need much to look made up in comparison to normal and would feel over done with the amount a professional might use.

ToBeMrsT: I did my own but I have pro experience. There’s no right or wrong product for everyone. We all have different skin types and ideas about how we want to look (natural vs. dramatic and everything in between). I do recommend a few basic products though: you’ll be sweating, so use a good face primer and waterproof mascara. Also a long lasting lip color. You won’t have time to keep touching up your makeup. If you don’t feel comfortable doing it yourself go to the Mac counter. Having a pro come to your home or venue will cost an arm and a leg and they charge by the hour. If you go to Mac I think you either have to pay $50 or buy a few items. At least you get to keep the stuff instead of washing it off a few hours and hundreds of dollars later.

I chose a professional to do my makeup, as well as my hair. I do my makeup everyday, and while I feel it looks OKAY, I don’t think it ever has that wow factor. I’ve never done highlighting or contouring and I didnt want the added stress of learning before the wedding.
Once I seen some of their work, I was convinced i needed to book them!

I am planning on doing my own. I went to Sephora and the MA helped me pick long lasting makeup for the big day. I have been using it whenever we go out, just so I am familiar and comfortable with it and so far it has been amazing. Too Faced bronzer is AWESOME!! and Smashbox camera ready bb cream is amazing as well. Both seem to stay on all day and also feel very light weight.

ToBeMrsT: I’m having my make up & hair done because I’m rubbish at doing it myself. I feel quite self-conscious anyway so I think it would be better if someone else does it for me. Good luck!

ToBeMrsT: I’m actually a cosmetologist – so I’m trained in make-up as well as hair (currently working as a hairdresser) – and I’m STILL having a pro do mine! I really don’t want to worry about anything the day of – I want to be pampered and be able to enjoy the day. A wedding day is once in a lifetime (theoretically, anyways ;)).

I went to MAC and they did a run on my makeup. I purchased everything they used and did myself On my wedding day. It turned out beautiful. Good luck 🙂

Thanks for all of your replies! I was looking at airbrush makeup, but like some of you have said, having them come to me would cost a TON! Most have quite a hefty minimum!
Aquaria: I totally agree about washing hundreds of dollars down the drain that night, so the MAC counter does sound like a great idea!
Kendrao: I should totally go to Sephora and find some brands that I love! What a good idea to get used to everything before the wedding day!
applecat: The whole thing about being pampered the whole day is one of my biggest pushes to just suck it up and hire a professional to come fix me up 🙂

I got it done professionally. I’m not very good at putting makeup do it was a no brainer for me. Also, since I rarely do this, I decided to pamper myself with it all: hair including color and mani/pedi

ToBeMrsT: I’m using a pro. I met her when I had budior pics done. My photog (who also did engagement pics, and is doing my wedding) has been working with her for a long time. She’s fabulous. She actually worked at sephora for a long time and now manages an Elizabeth Arden counter. She styles hair as well. And she’s cheap! $50 for hair and make up! I think it doubles for the wedding, but still, super cheap!

- Wedding: October 2011 - Bed & Breakfast
I went Pro for everything. I wanted to be pampered on my wedding day. It was wonderful. That said, I asked my MUA to use my primer, foundation, and setting powder. I have sensitive skin, so I needed to use products that are “safe” for my skin. I used NARS skin smoothing prep primer, Smashbox hydrating 15 hour foundation, and Tarte amazonian clay setting powder. Skin type: dry and sensitive.
