Just got another idea...
What if I covered them with silk flowers, and put the programs inside them? Guests could take a program as they sit down. Would that be tacky?
I think that'd work out and be cute, I would just spray paint the buckets a similar color as the silk flowers, first. And I would price it out too, to make sure this way isn't more expensive. I did the tissue paper pomanders for my wedding and I was in AC Moore one day and they just so happen to have the styrofoam balls on sale, half off! And i think I bought the smaller balls than usually recommended, like an inch smaller (4 maybe?)
I'm gonna wait to buy them after Halloween from Dirt Cheap....FOR dirt cheap! They have marked down stuff like that to like, .25 each!! So yeah, they should be WAY cheaper! Thanks for the spray paint tip! I may can get them in the same color as the flowers. We'll just see.
Would it be a bad idea to put the programs in these?
I think they will look great. Here is one pic I found of a holder for wedding programs. Yours will look much prettier.
Wow, that's creativity. I like the idea of putting the programs in them. I hope you post a picture of how they turn out.
if you're planning on setting the finished poms on the floor, this will work out perfect since the cutout part will set nicely and won't roll around. or you can re attach a ribbon in a different place so that the hole is what lies against the pews and isnt rolling around that way either.
smart thinking!!
@blondie_bride: I like the idea or repositioning the hole so it's against the pew. I'll have to experiment and see what I like best.
This sounds like a great idea! I love it. Our pomanders were ridiculously pricey, so this is a great cost effective plan!
I think putting the programs in them would be a great idea, very creative! I like the ribbon idea too (replacing the handle for it). Can't wait to see the finished product when you're done!
I was just in Dollar Tree and they had full and 1/2 foam balls.

I'm looking at making pomanders for the aisle. I like the idea of silk/tissue paper/coffee filter flowers, but the foam balls are kinda pricey. So, here's what I'm thinking....
Recognize these?
I'd like to get several silk flowers from Dollar Tree, and hot glue the flowers all around it, to completely cover it. Take off the plastic handle, replace with a coordinating ribbon. I was thinking of having some fall leaves and/or greenery coming out the top, like a little basket.
OR...I could buy some fabric and wrap around it to cover the face, then have some flowers and leaves coming out the top.
Thoughts??
