Hello, just wanted to let you know you're not alone! I'm getting married in Blacksburg on 06.12.10.
My grandparents live in Martinsville. One of my favorite things to do when we visit is go to Chateau Morrisette. I saw them setting up a wedding there one time. It was so pretty!
lhs, are you going for the chapel?
I remember in my floral design class, the teacher was telling us all of the details about getting married in the chapel, about the two hours total for everything, and blahblahblah.
Sorry honeybun... but if it makes you feel better I'm from Southeast VA/Hampton Roads and we don't even have a board. We seem to piggyback off of Richmond. I also feel there have to be more bees outside of the DC metro area. Virginia bees where are you hiding??
surkim, nope, we're actually getting married at our house. Outside ceremony and reception. What about you?

lhs, I am nowhere near getting married, but I have a friend who is getting married at the chapel.
I was a SWVA bride.... 3 years ago - but still hanging around weddingbee! We got married at a B&B in Pearisburg - Inn at Riverbend. Most of our vendors were from Blacksburg and that's where we live.
Hubby is from Martinsville :)

I'm moving to VA beach in april! I agree why is there a west and sw board, but no east? Would I just join Richmond?
@msbuttons: ummmm no!!! LOL I just finished shoveling the driveway. FI is out of town all weekend and I turned down the guys that offered to do it for $20 because I was THAT bored. Well I really regretted that decision about 5 mins later! Back is killing me!
I'm a SWVA bride. My fiance and I live in Roanoke and are getting married at Santillane in Fincastle.
@Twista: I'm getting married in the Roanoke area in October 2011. I've come across Santillane in my web searches for venues but haven't had the chance to visit yet. The website makes it look gorgeous!

Santillane is wonderful! They have some of the best prices in the area and it's gorgeous. Plus, the owners are really nice and easy to work with.
Hey all! I'm planning in SWVA, but getting married in either Philly or NJ (our home areas).
I'm a newly engaged SWVA girl- my wedding will be in Roanoke, Vinton, or the Smith Mountain Lake area :)

Yall aren't EVEN as far southwest as I am...Im from Bland (which you prolly haven't even heard from) and groom from Grayson...any thought...
@lhudson - I have heard of Bland and Grayson - but mostly when I'm listening for school closings ;)
@spinningstars: Yeah we end up closing school alot because of the mtn snow...lucky us. Anyway I was just hoping that somebody on here would have some ideas/suggestions for a wedding around this area...or some good reviews for flowers/photography/dj/etc. We are planning early Oct and thinking outdoors
@lhudson5002: I'm from Wytheville so I know just where you're from! Depending on your budget, there's some wineries you could look at. Also, I had a friend get married at Elizabeth Brown Park in Wytheville and they made everything look really nice. You could contact the high schools and see what DJs they use for dances.
@Twista:I had actually thought about the park because I knew sombody else that used it but Im not sure who to contact. I know that its town property so it would be a town official but Im not sure exactly who. Good idea about the schools and djs. Do you have any thoughts on a planner/photography? I just cant break the bank which is what Im running into...are you engaged/married?
