I have been collecting apothecary jars *cuz they’re beautiful* for about a year and have been wrestling back and forth about going with a POPCORN bar (because the Fiance & I LOVE popcorn) or a candy bar (we like candy too…)
We are having a nautical wedding (Navy, White & Gold) but I was thinking about using the candy bar to incorporate our different cultures (FI is British so I was going to include his favorite little tarts & etc red, white and blue candy to pay homage to the USA as well… hollaaa!
BUT we LOVE popcorn and our apothecary jars are pretty big so I’ve been looking at filling them with candy and it looks EXPENSIVE so I’m kinda thinking popcorn might be more affordable/bigger volume and I was looking at different kinds and there is some AMAZING variety (butter, cheese, caramel, strawberry, salt & vinegar, cotton candy, marshmellow, jalapeno, etc!) so that is sounding more delicious too!
I also thought popcorn might be a good idea cuz there’s going to be cake too so some salty variety could be nice with the sweetness of the cake to come…?
I can’t really decide so I’d love the input of the hive.
Which would you prefer as a guest?
AND anyone who’s done either a candy bar or a popcorn bar -would you please share how you filled them affordably? lol
any websites or actual stores with great deals would be most appreciated!

We’re having popcorn as a “goodnight”send off for our guests, mmmmmm popcorn. I think its a greta idea to do a popcorn bar!

I HATE popcorn, so I voted candy bar 🙂

@MissBoPeep: Same here, not a candy fan at all. I would LOVE many varieties of popcorn, that sounds delicious.

If you want candy, it doesn’t have to be a full candy bar. I had two containers with candy on our cake table for a little something extra- I love the idea of having British candy!

Popcorn sounds great to me, too!

I would have both, I find popcorn quite bloating, so would prefer the option to have sweets as well if I was a guest

Were having a popcorn bar! So excited! We will be having a selection of sweet, salt and savory
This is my inspiration

@MissBoPeep: lol well popcorn is delicious and CAN BE healthier so consider yourself awesome instead of odd 😉 I love me some candy too so that’s why I’m struggling!
@kaw2be: ooo fabulous! Are you getting a machine or buying it in bulk? I’d love to know how you’re making it affordable! My SIL’s uncle has a popcorn machine so that would be cool but idk about getting it on and off of the yacht we’re getting married aboard…
@jouissance: lol good to know! Maybe having BOTH might be best… that way we could just call it the snack bar?
@Treejewel19: Maybe I could do half and half just in case? I just need to find some afforable candy and popcorn! eeeep it gets expensive!
@rebwana: woo that’s a great idea actually! But I have so many jars already that they might cover up our cake lol
The way our yacht is set up the cake is like on display from all angles so people can see it from the front & from the back through windows on the deck outside too

Candy! I don’t like popcorn.

@jouissance: +1 I hate popcorn.
I love candy bars ( well chocolate in general ) but SO likes popcorn. I just think Popcorn stands would leave to much “smell” and not everyone likes it.

@Gemstone: good to hear! hehe I looove popcorn 🙂
@applecore: Both sounds like the best idea really… I mean it just might be kinda a crazy jumble of things so thats that I don’t want… I want it to be chic and pretty like the pic @MsLouella: posted!
@MsLouella: OMG That is gorgeous! Exactly what I mean – popcorn is so yummy! Does that say spicy caramel?! AMaZING! Do you know where you are getting your popcorn from yet? I’ve seen some on amazon but the like $10 in shipping EACH makes it kinda annoying…

I would probably pick a candy bar as that’s “easier”. Popcorn can get stale very quickly and IMO, popcorn is only good fresh, maybe with the exception of a sugared popcorn, like kettle corn. Depending on your venue, humidity may be a concern and that would affect popcorn more than candy IMO.

@PixelMePretty: ooo thank you for your vote~ I actually don’t know anyone that doesn’t like popcorn so this is eye-opening lol
@always_the_bridesmaid: Thank you for the input! I didn’t even think about the smells associated with popcorn but our jars do have lids soooo maybe it wouldn’t be so bad? lol You’re right tho too when you say chocolate is always going to be a crowd pleaser!
@lilbluebird: ooo never thought about the humidity… We are getting married on a yacht so there is definitely going to be water in the air. EEEP! Thank you for your insight! Maybe I’ll do some of both since its my favorite and it would be a way to personalize the wedding a little as well as please the crowd
