We're doing popcorn, but I worried about freshness, too, so we're buying pre-packaged goodies to ensure they're optimally fresh. Power to ya if you DO end up DIYing edible favors!
I was going to say - wow. I'm impressed! I guess the best way to find out is to try it. Make some and keep it a week. Try different containers and storage... You'll have a sure bet of what's best after that!
just make sure they are individually sealed and i'm sure they would be fine a few days later. we get tins of carmel corn at the office from time to time and i would say don't try to make it more than three days early and keep it sealed tight. try and do a test sealing up 3 different canisters/baggies and open one each day to see how many days they can go and still be delish! sounds like a great idea to me!
I wonder if an at-home vacuum food sealer would do the trick for you? It could be that I'm just mildly obsessed with their fabulous gimmicky-ness (and no experience with them) but they do seem like they'd work!
@ SarahEm: I have one and love it, but the special bags you have to use for them aren't exactly pretty and favor-worthy. Not a bad idea, though, if that's unimportant to someone!
Using a vacuum sealer had crossed my mind, I may investigate over the weekend. Thanks!

We have a popcorn kiosk in our mall & they package all the popcorn in a plastic bag & put it in those metal tins (like a cookie tin). It works for them & the popcorn never tastes stale. Maybe its worth a try?

Hi Bee's!
My mom is making caramel popcorn for our favors. She's planning on making it about a week or so ahead of time, but I am concerned that it will go stale if it isn't stored properly. I don't want to spend the night before my wedding filling favor bags, so what kind of packaging could I use to keep it fresh? Has anyone else DIYed edible favors? What did you do?
