My FH and I are getting married in an awesome space where we have a theatre upstairs (for the ceremony) and reception in a ballroom downstairs.  We are having a fairly big dinner and since there is an option to browse through the art galleries during cocktail hour we can't have anything too messy.

We came up with the idea of having a 'popcorn bar' for the cocktail hour.  I know most people do these as favors, but this would just be something to tide everyone over.

Here is the dilemma:  how to serve the popcorn.  We want it to look nice, but still be easy to access.  Has anyone seen a good deal on the popcorn cones or plain boxes we could decorate?  Is this an okay idea?

    HELP!  Thanks :D

Can you get or DIY cylindrical cones?  That way, it's easy for people to carry around.  Or, you could DIY little bags for people to fill.  I'd also have scoops for people to use (you don't want a bunch of hands IN the popcorn).

I think the is really cute and will be a hit!  Most everyone loves munching on popcorn!

You could probably get those popcorn boxes like there are at fairs & carnivals. You can use those- or make ones like that in your colors.

Definitely use tall apothocary jars... so cute. Use little scoops and I agree, either DIY cones, or if that doesn't fit your theme, find little boxes to use.

You could easily make these. You can even do your own calligraphy on the cones by using a light box and tracing onto the paper before you make it into the cone.

agree with all comments above... you could set up a buffet and have guests scoop out the popcorn themselves, or maybe have pre-packaged boxes / bags and you can make personalized labels for them.

check out the bags at papermart :

Thanks!  I love that idea too.  Anyone know where to find something like the wrap in the classes above?  It's so pretty!  I tried google searching a few things with no luck.

I also like the idea of DIY, but it looks like scrapbook paper is around .50 cents/sheet and with 200 people that can get kind of spendy for popcorn!

I love the cones, and I think they look so cute in the flutes above.

I found some directions for you! they used wrapping paper.

    <span style="color: #ff6600;">
    1. Download or create a template for the cones.
    2. Trace the cone template onto the paper, then trim out. Repeat as many times as you need.
    3. Roll the trimmed paper into a cone shape, making sure there’s enough of a hole left in the bottom of the cone for the lollipop stick. Secure the cone shape with a piece of tape on the inside, and use the glue stick to make the outer edge lie flat.

Follow the link for the full directions, pictures, and template.

    That's a good idea!

About how much popcorn do you think it would take to feed 200 guests?
