Porn vs. Romance Novels

@JM1217:  I think they are basically the same, because both have the ability to be totally harmless and healthy outlets for sex.

However, they both have the option to perpetuate negativity. For example (and this is just personal opinion) there is some porn out there that I find morally repugnant. Things that are really degrading to both women and men. I would be bothered if my SO were to watch those things, because I don’t think those messages should be condoned/encouraged. But the same goes for books. There are definetly ‘romance’ novels that romanticize abusive relationships, for example. I find that equally problematic.

But general run of the mill porn versus a trashy grocery store romance novel? The same thing in different forms.
