i’d look into the rentals in your area, and check out what’s available first.  there are some that are definately nicer than others, seriously.  i don’t know that i’d spend much effort prettifying them, but i’d get the nicest model my budget would allow.  at my cousin’s wedding they had running water and everything, and at a friends wedding, they had a portable trailer bathroom, one for men and one for ladies.  fancy!!

There are some modular porta-potties out there, you just have to ask.  I’ve been in one that had a sink and a flushable toilet.  It was in SF at one of the wharf terminals.  You had to walk up a few stairs to get to the door.  It kind of looked like one of those trailers that they use as construction site offices but smaller…so I don’t know how much room you have.

Personally for me…I would never use a regular porta-potty at a wedding. I would rather hold it until I got home.

I would contact your local rental company or check with a local party-planner, they might have better ideas/selections.

I went to an outdoor wedding last year and the porta potties were really nice. They were just like an indoor bathroom, but were on wheels. Very nice, I would look into them!

We’re getting the trailer “porta-potties” with flushable toilets and nice sinks.  I think the trailer rental is running us $1200, so not cheap, but also not that much more expensive than 3 regular porta-potties with a tent over them in case of rain.  My parents are footing the bill, since they said there was no way we were going to have normal porta-potties for our wedding guests…

I usually don’t like to repeat the same suggestions, but if you can, please do get the trailer restrooms!  Like other posters indicated, they have stalls and sinks, and are totally bearable.

The individual port-a-potties are soooo awkward to use, and I always feel immediately (and permanently) filthy after using one!

And that’s when I’m wearing outdoorsy clothes- in any decent outfit, I can’t even imagine.

Good luck and congratulations (sorry again for the redundance)!

Yes–the trailer port-a-potties are great. When my friend rented them for her wedding, they came with an attendant who dashed in & cleaned them up throughout the night. So they wound up being cleaner & nicer than regular bathrooms without an attendant.

PLEASE get something with a toilet that flushes! There is nothing that makes me want to vomit more than seeing other people’s business left in the toilet. Also, people need to be able to wash their hands after they do their business (and FLUSH IT).

@Miss Baz:

We are having our wedding reception in our backyard which is an acre long for 200 guest we expect. So the 2 porta potties will be located far far away from the reception. Luckily my FH has an uncle that knows someone in that business and we hope to get a new porta-potty that has not been used or looks semi-used.

However what I plan to do since I know the porta potty will not have lighting in it I am going to Walgreens to purchase those stick on 2  light bulbs that require batteries and hanging them from the ceiling so that when it gets dark which it will guest are aiming directly where they need to be.

In addition , I am placing those aromatic-sensor sprays that detect when a human is by and sprays automatically or to be on the safe side where those little rascal kids will not get it ,place one on the corner ,strap it down real good and put it to spray every 10 or 15 minutes .

I wanted to stick a bag of feminine napkins however I know (knowing my family) that the restroom will be decorated with napkins stuck on the walls. it will be a hilarious sight however not in my wedding
