Ofcourse RIGHT before i’m about to send in the contract for my venue. I get an email back about a new venue thats much cheaper i still have to go see it but from the pictures i actually like it more… one big problem though is its a barn loft with no AC in June. So i thought about renting or buying (and then selling) a portable Air conditioner to help cool the place down.
Has anyone tried this and did it help?
Temperature could end up being 95 and humid or a cool and comfy 75…. ya just can’t predict the weather. I’m more worried about humidity then anything else.

Unfortunately, I don’t have anything to add. However, I just found out our venue isn’t air conditioned and the wedding is in 9 days and I don’t know what we’re going to do so I would love to hear responses about this as well!

I tried them in an old house I used to live in. They sucked. When there is an open exchange of air between the house (or barn, in your case) and the outside, the small amount of “cool” air generated becomes pointless.
Unfortunately, since you’re in the loft, where hot air will rise to, its gonna be hot. Fans would probably be a better option.

I am currently living in a townhouse that doesnt have air, and lets just say it freaken sucks!! It was 88 inside on monday, but anyways we have a portable air conditioner ( we did a ton of research and bought the best one we could find). It works awesome…if you are cooling a small room with the door closed. I dont think they will work for you, i would go with fans like others have suggested.

Exactly. Anywhere but that 1 room is awful, right? I couldn’t imagine this working in a barn, sorry OP.

You would need to buy several for a barn. They are pretty much the same as a window airunconditioned. Works great for a small bedroom, sucks if you try to use it for the whole house. I would see about renting a wedding tent ac unit. Bigger rental companies in your area should have these, and they would work much better.

I am getting married in June in NC too! and I was terrified about the weather. I rented a tent, and the tent companies can rent you an AC unit, or a few, depending on the events square footage. It isn’t cheap though, like, not at all. But they do duct work and run it very nicely, so it isn’t just a fan blowing in one spot.

Most of them aren’t very good, However, you might be able to rent one of those industrial sized ones from your local party rental place, those things usually push out quite a bit of cold air.. and I mean.. if it doesn’t do it’s job you could complain and hopefully get a discount or something.

We have one for our apt and we use it in the bedroom. Thought it was cool the whole apt, but it doesn’t. Works great for one small room though! Not so much for a barn loft I would assume.
