SO has my ring on layaway @ MoissaniteCo. We got the Petite Cushion Halo when it went on sale but the only size on sale was the 7mm(1.8 carat). I was hesitant because I’ve always wanted a 1-1.25 cushion just because I didn’t want my ring to immediately put questions in everyone’s head.
(My family/close friends will know it’s moissanite.. even most coworkers. I’m very proud of our choice..But I don’t feel like explaining it to every. single. person hence a desire for a “believeable” carat size.)
Anyway, I found someone else on BTD forums that had the same ring but with a (1.4 carat) 6.5mm on a 4.5 finger.
Anyway-Well since my ring size is a 6.75, Do you think my 1.8 carat will have the same amount of finger coverage as hers does?
There’s no turning back now so I guess I just need reassurance that it won’t look insanely large on me. I think it looks perfect on her. Thanks!

I think on your larger finger the look will be very comparable.
Don’t second guess! You are going to LOVE your ring!

@sweetdee522: I think it will look great! It might be helpful that cushions face up smaller so it won’t be overly large I think.

I think it will look great! 1.8 is definitely not over the top huge so I still think it will be “believable”

you also have to remember that cushions tend to be smaller than rounds for similar carat sizes. So while a 7 mm cushion is 1.8 carats, a 7mm round is 1.25 carats. A round is almost 8 m to get to the 1.8 carat size. Because people are more familiar with round stones than cushions, it looks like a fairly reasonable size to people, and it’s not going to be obviously fake.
I have a very similar ring with a 7mm cushion, and trust me, it does not look unrealistically big.

If you are telling everyone whose opinion matters (family, friends, etc) then I don’t see the point in worrying about it. Sure, you don’t want to have to deal with judgemental strangers, but do their opinions matter anyway? I say get what you love because that’s all that matters! And FWIW, I think it will look great!

@BlondeMissMolly: i agree with this. plus anyone who openly questions someone’s stone choice is just plain rude so who cares what they would think?

I think that is a good size for your finger. Can’t wait to see photos of your ring when it gets in!
