A friend of mine recently quit her job and moved to the other side of the country on a whim...she just got an apartment there and is job searching. She didn't realize how much higher her day to day expenses would be or how expensive moving is and its all more than she expected. She called me to let me know she may not be able to make it back for the wedding depending on her finances, of course I understand and something things happen. I hope her new city and everything works out for her and that she can come back for the wedding. I don't want to replace her, I chose these girls because they're important to me.

My wedding is still a couple months away, I told her if she can get a last minute seat sale or if things change to let me know...her dress is bought, paid for and altered. In the meantime though, should I order her bouquet? I've ordered their presents from Tiffany, should I still give her the one I ordered for her even though she's dropped out? I have her dress since she moved before they came in, I told her I'll hang on to it and if she can make it then she's got a dress anyway.

I'm thinking I'll just carry one without her as BM and rearrange the processional, recessional and everything else. If she does come in on a last minute seat sale though after the programs etc are printed how odd would it be to have a BM who's not listed on anything?

Not too odd :)  I think it'd be great if she could still join you!  Maybe you could make a brief announcement -- like if you and your mister make a mini speech at the reception -- noting that she wasn't originally able to attend, but could now so that's why she's not in the program?  Or list her anyway as an honorary BM!

I don't think it'd be odd if you didn't have a bridesmaid listed on the programs and stuff.  To be totally honest, at the weddings I've been to, I've never tried to match the bridesmaids with the program, so I don't know that many people would notice or be bothered by that.

I agree with Bruschetta, the honorary bridesmaid thing sounds like a sweet touch and you're good to go if she can make it!
