Ok...so I hate crying in front of people and was able to hold my composure UNTIL.... we found our venue lol. I know people say that the bride ALWAYS CRIES when she finds the perfect dress, but not me. I just smiled and said "this is the one." Now I will say that I was dress shopping long before we set our actual date, so maybe a part of me felt like it wasn't official since I was searching for a dress that I had no idea when it would be worn. So once we decided on a date we had to find a venue. Well we looked online for and visited countless reception halls with no luck. They weren't all bad but some of them were horrible and even smelled! I was starting to feel like it wasn't meant for us to have some dream wedding and that maybe the Justice of the Peace was where we'd end up. So as we extended our search a little further we came across the PERFECT VENUE! I was so excited and just overjoyed tears flooded my eyes. It was everything I imagined and MORE! I guess reality sat in when I layed eyes on the place we would become husband and wife. :)

Congratulations! It's beautiful and probably a huge relief to have found the perfect place. It does start to feel more "real" as the details come together.
Here is ours, but imagine it with covered hay bale seating and a white birch pergola!

@Amaryllis: Thanks Ikr lol ! Yours is gorgeous!!! Your pictures are gonna be beautiful!! Congrats :)
Finding the perfect venue is definitely a wonderful feeling. I felt a bit like Goldilocks with our venue hunt, but when I laid eyes on our final choice, I fell in love.... hard. I literally had to catch my breath, and Mr. LK told me that I had no game face. LOL

@Twizzle11 That's gorgeous!
@Amaryllis That sounds great! Can't wait for your recap pics in a few mths =)
Here's ours... it was perfect! and I didn't have to worry about ceremony decor! lol

@amnystik: I love it!! I wish we could have found a church! It just didn't work out that way, but oh well as long as we're husband and wife at the end of the night I'm GOOD lol ! :) Congrats!
I'm so excited about ours!

@Twizzle11: Thanks. :) As for your poll question, let's just say that Mr. LK's Aunt is still mad at Mr. LK's uncle (they are brother and sister) because Mr. LK's Uncle had a courthouse wedding and not a "proper" one. This was more than 20 years ago and she still makes snide comments about it! So yeah..... I didn't want to be on her bad side, which = no JOP.
@lovekiss: Look at those windows! Love the whole venue!
@amnystik: So charming; I love the pendants.
To answer the poll, we did consider eloping with just us. We chose to have a ceremony so that we could celebrate with family and friends. As it gets closer, sadly, it's the family that is driving us wedding planning crazy and bringing it back full circle to wishing we had just run away together!
I don't have my professional pictures yet, but this was the rose arbor where we had our ceremony. It was such a beautiful venue!
I love seeing everyone's venues.... they're all so gorgeous!
@Twizzle11 It's actually a historic site in a nearby city's state park. Pretty neat =)
@Keltaena: Very grand and elegant!
@muckmoo1: LOVE the roses. I love flowers!
@lovekiss: Wow! I told my FI that I only planned on having ONE wedding so it would be done the way I wanted the first time! No redos...I couldn't imagine having to relive this stress lol...
@amnystik: Wow!! That's amazing! It's gonna be so memorable for everyone!!
@lovekiss: Yours looks great! I love the ceremony space, and the furniture in the cocktail space.
@Twizzle11: So pretty! Are you going to put up lights, too? It sets the room off wonderfully.
@Keltaena: Thanks....I probably will have them string the lights...I do like what it adds!

this is outside the patio/terrace

this is the front

and this is where the reception will be!
In October with all the leaves turning!! I am so excited and had this venue picked out before we were even engaged! It is part of the Park District, so was super cheap too! :)
Love all the venues ladies! So beautiful!
@chittychittybanebane: OMG!!! I can just picture it! I love fall..it's my favorite season...the weather is perfect and you almost never have to set up picturs...Nature is the perfect BACKROUND!!! I hope there's plenty of leaves for our pictures!! Congrats! :)
Here is where we had ours... this is just a pic from their website since we havn't gotten our pro pics back yet. The ceiling is fiber optic stars. It is so dreamy! I loved it! ... ohh and just in case you're wondering the brick structure in the middle is a dj booth

@amnystik: Aww!!! You looked so pretty...you can tell you guys are happy :)
Beautiful Venues!! This is our venue but our ceremony/reception will be at night!

@Twizzle11: Thank you!! I am hoping the weather cooperates for us! I want to go out there soon to walk around and find some cool spots! It is such a huge park and I'm sure there are secret treasures that need to be found!
The first photo is taken on my iphone, and the second is from their website. The reason we chose our venue was for the grounds - so fingers crossed for nice weather!! The inside is tradiational, old fashioned (in the good way!) and beautiful, but the outside is definately my favourite thing about it.

@Showers: Oh man. I wish I lived in England so I could get married at a place like that.
I didn't have to worry about decor at all in my ceremony space, but I did do decor in our reception space! Both places were beautiful in their own rights though!

Reception location:

@berkie: I've never been able to use the words rustic and upscale to describe the same thing, but this venue fits that description to the "T". This is so unique!! Congrats!
@dodgercpkl: I really like the decorations! Very classy and cool favors!! Congrats!
Can I just say I'm envious of soooo many of these???? They are GORGEOUS!!! We had thought about going to a place up in MD, but it was WAY outside our budget (so we're planning on a "vow renewal/anniversary party" at some point at THAT venue!) so we're going with a more "local" place.
here's where we plan on having the ceremony:
the reception area is still up for debate because there are TWO places to choose from now. :) sooooo, we'll just have to wait and see what we want when we go to the cabins next month! (or is it the end of this month? hmmmmm...)
Here's my church :) It's a very historical site. That monument was actually unveiled in 1907 and the church itself is over 150 years old. It's beautiful and I love it :)

Here's my venue in 1907
