We had a cake and pie table. We used one of the cakes as our 'cutting' cake and put our topper on it (which was my parents' from the 70s).
Here is mine! I Just posted it on another board but I love it. I found it right after we got engaged and I still love it. We changed it a little by making the middle tier of just flowers will be navy instead of all white. I still need a cake topper Im so excited I love it!
Ours for tier wise is going to be like blueshoes2 for square tiers. For design either these two designs. We plan on an probably different kinds of flavors. Def buttercream for frosting. Going to put a downpayment down on the cake this coming week
Here is ours. Buttercream made to look like fondant, with fondant ribbons in our colors (bright key lime green and hot pink), with hand made chocolate and fondant seashells! (we got married the week before in Key West!) The topper features different kinds of seashells but with the two seahorses facing each other (like the invites and our monogram).
In fact, one of our favors were artisan chocolates made with same design but with added silver flecks in them. The bakery created a seahorse mold design to match our wedding invitations.
Here's the cake:

Here's what ours will look like:

Each tier will be a chocolate layer, chocolate mousse filling, white layer, with buttercream frosting. Can't wait to eat it!
Our cake was one of my favortie things about that night:)
I found this pic on line and asked my cake lady to replicate it....She said "No Problem!" I love it!

@butterflylover: soo pretty i love batterflies..i had them on my shoes though not on cake,,
@Blueshoes2: I'm so jealous of your penguin cake topper! My MIL told me cake toppers are tacky (and she had alot of opinions about everything else under the sun too :-/). I tried not to let her comment get to me but I couldn't help it, ugh!
ANyways, here's my cake. Black and white..ended up putting white roses on top.
This was ours. My mum and I baked it and I iced it. My on the day coordinator ended up building it and adding the ribbons for us.
The cake that my fabulous mother made! Alternating layers of Bailey's Irish Cream and Red Velvet cake with buttercream frosting!
Ours was a sale package our bakery was offering! I wasn't pressed about the cake anyway, so I just told them what color roses and swirls I wanted!

This was my cake.
It was beautiful AND delicious:

My cake is going to look something similar to this:

The top cake that we are going to cut into HAS to be cheesecake. FI and I don't like cake but that's the ONLY kind we love and will eat. We haven't decided on what flavor/fillings cream combo to do just yet with the cupcakes. Also we're having a fall themed wedding (colors are truffle, ivory, peach and gold) so ignore those colors above!
This is the cake I want. I love it simple and elegant. No balls on it though lol. I'm showing it to my cake lady tomarrow when I pick up samples for tasting.
