Inspired by the beautiful "Mrs & Mrs" post...
In the days following the legalizing of same sex marriage in NYC, I saw dozens of images of LOVE. Some of them made me smile, some of them made me cry, but all of them made me proud. Proud to be part of the generation that pushed open the doors to acceptance and equality and the realization that love doesn't always look the same.
While a number of hateful individuals believe that gay marriage ruins the "sanctity" of straight marriages (whatever the hell that means), I actually feel BETTER about marrying my future husband in a state that recognizes the fact that love knows no gender.
I wonder if any of those people could actually look through dozens of images of love without reconsidering their beliefs. Maybe they've just never known a gay person before. Maybe they just need to know their beliefs are based on misconceptions and fear.
So post your favorite image/s of same-sex marriage! Even if it changes ONE person's mind, it will be worth your time to post :)

I would love to post to this but I think the pics I have would violate privacy... it is such a great thread though! I hope it gets some love!

This wedding looks amazing!!
@jjmomma: oh my GOSH - what I wouldn't give to have been on THAT guestlist!!!
I say this half joking, half serious - but what would be better for the economy than 50 states having gay weddings!?!?
EVery single one of these pics makes me happy, but especially 12 and 60. This was the day that same sex unions were legalized in New York

LOVE.
I love #7 because you can tell Mayer Bloomberg (who had just officiated the wedding of two of his office aides) is all choked up too :)
@SandyThePoet: These are great! You can feel the emotion coming through the pictures :)
Someone I was friends with in high school (now facebook friends) got married recently...the photos are beautiful and really touching. I hope that it's okay to share them. If nothing else, I guess it advertises his very talented photographer. :-)
@judithsr: um the forhead kiss picture totally melted my heart!
I LOVE this thread! It just takes looking at one picture or seeing one video to confirm to me that love can happen between ANY two people, not just men and women. All these pictures are so beautiful.
And, I know that they're famous and stuff... but Portia and Ellen's wedding video does it to be EVERY time:

I love this thread!! im at work balling because im so happy!!!
aww wow - I'd seen pictures but never the video, this is great.
Thank you!
(and thanks everyone else too!!)
@jjmomma:I've never heard of this site, and I can't stop looking through it.
Sigh. All this is making me one very emotional sappy girl. In a good way!

(I wish I could get of my friend to ask if I could post her wedding pics! She was a gorgeous, hippie bride!)
Love it! So happy!
Thank you all for your posts - they helped cheer me up after hearing today that a young boy who had created a "Its Get Better" video killed himself over the weekend after relentless bullying for his sexuality. It breaks my heart that he will never be one of the happy grooms in these pictures - because of stupid, ignorant bigots...
These are beautiful. Thanks for this post. I cannot wait to marry my future wife and have our own gorgeous pics!

This was the watershed marriage--the first one performed in MA. I love their cake!
@mandypop: She's a busy woman, but I hope so too... she is so beautiful and so happy, and they are so obviously in love!
In the first set of photos you posted, bottom right... that picture just slays me. How long did those women have to wait and through what trials?! Makes me think of one of my closest friend's moms, the first same sex couple I ever met. God* bless them for being so dang normal! Opened my eyes, and my mind, big time.
*term used all-inclusively, all beliefs and non-beliefs welcome :)
@mandypop: What?! I just read your post... . Unforgivable, unacceptable. I don't even have words.
hey all, i saw this thread and immediately thought of one of my facebook friends who recently got married. His pictures were gorgeous!!! he posted ALOT on facebook and i would love to download them and post them here, but i feel that is a privacy violation.
however, he named his photog. and i found their blog post of his wedding. It does not have nearly as many pics i have seen on facebook and also they do not include my faves, but they are stunning and happy all the same!

I LOVE THIS THREAD! THANK YOU SO MUCH Ms. Mandypop. I could give you the biggest hug for this. And of course since I was your inspiration I just HAVE to put in my two cents! Here are some images of me and my beautiful wife at our recent wedding!!

My wedding pictures make me pretty darn happy! August 15, 2008

Navy LT Gary Ross and Dan Swezy, the first military same sex marriage after the "Don't Ask Don't Tell" Military policy was lifted.
I get the idea here but personally I think that it should be "Post WEDDING pictures that make you happy". Interracial, same race, hetero/homosexual, who cares? We are all trying to celebrate the same momentous occation and IMHO until we who are celebrating the events stop drawing lines that divide us then why would anyone else? Maybe that is a bad opinon to have, but that is what I first thought of when I saw this. BTW these all look like amazing weddings.
@PWheels: Seriously? Could his partner apply for spouse benefits? (if so, that's fantastic!)
@maureen9004: Unfortunately, no. While same sex marriage amongst members of the military is now not terms for separation, military spouses are not eligible for benefits or housing. In fact, if the member of the military is killed in action, their spouse is not considered their next of kin and can not be notified, unless they have dependents. It's really twisted. The Servicemembers Legal Defense Network has LOADS of information.
Straight people and people of other races still have their marriages recognized as legitimate in all 50 states. Same sex couples dont get that luxury, and on top of that, they get to put up with hateful nonsense just for ASKING that their relationships be recognized. So if they get one silly little thread on this board dedicated just to them and their unique situation, I think thats really OKAY.
@PWheels: thats awesome - thanks for posting :)
