i've asked my fiance many times, and he always says the same thing about my hair. "i like it either way." so my personal opinion is: if you're tired of it, then cut it. do something different. i've ALWAYS had my hair long.. until 2 years ago when i decided to get it cut for locks of love.. &it hasn't been past my shoulders since. i love it short. but i'm letting it grow out for my wedding.. and then i'm chopping it all off afterwards!
My husband loves my hair long so I am growing it out. I chopped it off a few months before the wedding (oops) it still grew out pretty well before hand! I say do what you want it will always grow!!!
I did it and LOVED it. I have had long hair since college and felt like it was time for a change..
In the second picture, it had grown for 2 months so it was even shorter when I got it cut!
I'm doing it this saturday! My hair was short when I met my hubby and I let it grow out for the wedding. Now my hubby wants me to have it cut the way it was when we met. My students are going to flip! I'm attaching pics, one of how my hair looks now and one of what it looked like when we first met.
I just did it! My hair was halfway down my back and it was just getting too long so I had it cut it just past my shoulders. I hate styling my hair so it's a very simple cut, but I LOVE how healthly my hair feels now and it is so much easier to blow dry...and really easy to curl if I want to change things up. I don't regret it. I haven't taken a photo of my new hair yet, but maybe I'll take some picture this weekend to share with you :)
Oh, and if you want some inspiration for shorter hair, here are two styles that I liked (but I chickened out and went for super simple and longer).
I kept my hair long - took way too long to grow out. I'm talking years!
You can totally pull off the short hair where I couldn't. I've always read if you wear it up more than 50% of the time, chop it off!
After years of cutting my hair short because it just took too much time to grow out, I've realized that i just look better with longer hair. Hubbs says he doesn't care either way (typical) so I'm leaving mine long :-)
I just did it! Rather than retyping the whole story here, you can follow the link to check out my blog about it:
I couldn't wait to do the post wedding chop! I have curly hair so it's a bit time consuming and not very manageable, so short is the way to go and I love it!
Here's some pics:
My wedding hasn't happend yet but I am chopping it off afterwards.
My wedding also hasn't happened yet but I am planning on chopping it after. I am only growing it out for the wedding. My FI absolutely loves my long hair but in the end he doesn't have to deal with it's "b*tchiness". I am a low maintenance gal. I love making things easier for myself especially when it comes to my hair.
I'll be chopping mine off! I donated about two feet of my hair two years ago and am hoping to donate about a foot after the wedding. I'm not going to lie, I am pretty excited. I miss having it short, plus it grows really fast, so it's not that big of a loss.
yes, I'm mega sick of my hair (yes, I realize that's lame, but that's how I feel)
mine is almost long enough to donate to locks of love and still have chin length hair but DH is whining
If you wear it up more than you actually "style" it down, chop it.
I learned this from my high school sweetheart's parents long ago. After dying my hair red, and my bf hating it...his dad told me..."He'll get over it. Hell, I HATE my wife's short hair...but I didn't marry the hairstyle, I married the love of my life."....he was so right.
My FI doesn't like my hair short, but he continuously tells me that if I shaved it all off, he'd still love me. He'd just start calling me "Sinead". ![]()
@cannotwait you could always donate to Pantene's Beautiful Lengths program. They only require 8 inches of hair. I donated about two years ago to that program and will donate again after the wedding!
I want to chop it before we even go on our honeymoon! My hair is only shoulder length now and we are getting married in July, but I had a great swing bob that I loved that I grew out for the wedding that I can't wait to have back. I had it when I first tried on dresses and when I look back at those pictures I swoon for my hair. I might even cut it pre wedding, but I am considering doing my hair like Miss Perfume.
I was actually shocked to see this up here because I was just discussing this with my fiance this morning! I'm chopping my hair post wedding definitely, because it is just too long and too time consuming to maintain. I'm actually thinking about donating it. I'm not getting highlights before the wedding, so this should be possible.
Anyone else donate their post-wedding locks?
I grew mine out for a year before wedding from chin leangth. I wore it up so much and did not feel like myself. I have had shorter hair for years. This was an experiment, I always say i am going to try and grow it our, but cut it. This time I had a goal. My husband liked it, so I left it long, then summer hit and adios. I love it and he actually likes it alot. I think it was just the concept of long hair he liked. Now it is short, lots of layers and bangs.
Cut it off, Rosy! Trust me, your husband will love it short just as much as he did long - mine was surprised at how much he loved my new hair. I was the same as you; my hair was getting so annoying to keep up that I was wearing it in a ponytail (and looking like a 12 year old!) every single day. Now that it's shorter, I don't have any choice but to "do" it, so it looks a lot better, day-to-day.
I said I was going to chop mine...but then back to reality, and I remembered I don't look good with short hair...I definitely have forgotten that over the years....like back in high school when I thought I'd look super hot with the Meg Ryan haircut then realized only Meg Ryan can really pull off the I woke up and my hair looks gloriously messy, the kind of messy normal people go to the salon for...that was tramatic. I regret even talking about it as I will think about it all day now.
I am very jealous of how good everyone who has cut theirs looks and I love the long bob inspirations like Nicole Ritchie! So cute!
I cannot wait to cut mine off! I've only been growing it a few months but it is down to my shoulders and driving me a bit nuts. Too much hair! I like a chin-length do, with cute layers.
I will say that being able to wear my hair in a pony during the summer is pretty nice. Much easier than actually styling my hair.
I feel crazy for saying this but I feel like my hair requires more time and maintenance when it is short! My hair is wavy and has a mind of its own so half curves in and half curves out if I don't spend lots of time beating it into submission. On the other hand, when my hair is long, I just run a brush through it and I have nice smooth waves. I do spend a lot on conditioner though!
I"m chopping mine off tomorrow! I'm so excited... I've had my hair long my entire life (chin length when I saw 3 but that doesn't count) We have been married for a month now and my husband is really excited! I'm cutting to my shoulders and will post pictures when I have some! as of now it's 3-4 inches below my shoulders :D I really can't wait for this change and if I hate it then my hair will grow out! So Fun!!
I'm getting a Rihanna-type pixie cut post-wedding! I have extremely heavy thick hair and continuing to grow it out has been SUCH a pain. I love my hair and it's very pretty but I need a break!
I don't think my future husband is so onboard with it, but he hasn't been carrying 10 lbs of hair on his head since our engagement ;oP
not doing it, but go for it, if it's what you want. it's just hair...it'll grow back:-)
For the first time in two years, my hair is (just) ponytail length, and I don't think I want to give that up! But I am toying with the idea of post wedding bangs.
NOPE! I am growing it out and keeping that way! It seems like everytime I decide to get my hair really cut (not just trimmed) I somehow decide I want a short cut (probably because I have fluffy curly locks that are a major pain) but I really look so so much better with long hair.
Yes I did it. I have had long hair since high school, decided to keep it long for the wedding, but then went for the chop.
I have the whole before and after posted here: http://nomerstoo.blogspot.com/2009/07/okmy-new-hair.html
It definately was worth it. My hair takes a ton less time to wash and style, not to mention the cost benefits in less shampoo and hair products. It's just so light and easy to take care of. The hair was donated to Locks of Love. Check their requirements ahead of time. Pantene also has a similiar program.
Oh your suppose to chop it off after the wedding. I missed that memo and just chopped my ALL OFF BEFORE WHAT WAS I THINKING!!!!

Hi Bees. I'm debating whether or not to do the post-wedding chop. The hubs likes my hair long, but it's getting to be such a pain to maintain that I just wear it up in a ponytail all the time.
Did any of you do the post-wedding chop? Any before and after photos to share as insipration? Did you new husbands opinion influence your decision?
