I'm resisting so far, but thinking about a post-wedding trim? Also thinking about growing out my bangs, but every time I think about it, I get a little sad. I can't decide!
I am so far away from getting a PWC but I can't wait! I have been growing out my hair for nearly a year (it grows veeery slowly) but I miss short hair so much.
I always want to get a chop but am way too chicken!
Ironically I almost always wear my hair up or back.
But there's something about options that appeals to me....
...maybe that's why I'm determined to make my next vehicle a hardtop convertible -- I always want the best of both worlds.
Must be the Gemini in me.
Mrs DG if your hair grows fast you should totally go for it!!!
I'm with you Mouse... I dedicated all this time (and prenatal vitamins) to growing out some long locks, and now I'm sick of them!
Maybe I'll just go half-way and get a shoulder length cut. It seems weird to get the full chop right before winter!
Lori- Mr. DG is a gemini, so I get it ;) I'm an options person too...
I just got my hair cut (pre-engagement chop?) and I LOVE it. I have a post in the beauty section. I was really debating getting the chop for a lot of reasons... not the least of which is I'm nervous about how I'll do it for the wedding.
But.
I looked at pictures of myself over the past few years and I have my hair up in almost all of them. Why? Because my hair only looks nice down for like 2 hours then it gets stringy and gross. Now I got my hair cut to shoulder length and it is just SO much nicer.
I'm going to have to go check your post out Corgi. Good for you for bucking the trend :)
So prenatal vitamins actually work, DG? What are some of the things you're considering for the chop? I know unruly hair all to well ... and I'm planning on continuing to grow it until 2011 ... it's killing me already. I will DEFINITELY be doing a post wedding chop.
I found that the prenatal vitamins with the fish oil (the kind you get at Costco) worked really well for me. My hair was sleeker and shinier as well.
I really like styles that are angled-- shorter in back and longer in the front... but I don't want it to look circa late 1980's. I need to find a way to make it more contemporary... and for me that usually means shorter (which I'm not fully on board with yet!)
Maybe something like this?
Anyone have any other good pictures of a longer in front shorter in back bob? I'm going to get this done tomorrow afternoon :)
Hopefully these pics work - I did this back in March. I LOVED it then, but now I want my long hair back soooooooooo bad!!!!
I did the longer in the front bob (although you can't really tell so much in this pic).
I never had any sort of inkling to do the PWC. Ive always had long hair, I cant imagine not having it!
Corgi, I'm doing the pre-engagement (ish) chop! I'm sick of my hair long, and I figure I have a few years to grow it out for the wedding! I'm getting it done next week. :)
I made a haircut appt on Saturday....I am too chicken for a PWC, but think I will cut bangs again. It took me 8 months to grow them out, but I think I want them back : )
I cut off 11 inches after our wedding within a month of getting back. I had been itching to do it for the few months leading up to our wedding though. I do this a lot - change my hair. All through college, I had super short cuts (like, pixie short at times), then a bob, and then after college, I grew it out, and wore it long for about three years. Then I was dying to chop it off, and what do you know, I'm engaged :) So I had to wait another year because I really wanted a side updo at the wedding.
When I did the chop two weeks ago, I did a bob, and it's shorter in the back, and has some longer, fun pieces in the front. I actually get a lot of compliments on it from random people on the street and at the mall. I used the attached picture for inspiration for my stylist, and it pretty much the looks the same (I also have naturally wave to straight hair).
haha i have used both of those photos at the salon this year :) Looked smashing!

I have resisted the post wedding chop (so far so good July-> October)... but now my hair is getting unruly long. I'm thinking about revisiting the idea of a post-wedding chop.
Was anyone resistant to the idea but then came around?
Why do we all do it?
I think part of my resistance was just not wanting to follow the crowd... which is pretty silly in it's own right!
