Yes, I know, so cliché, but I want to cut my hair now that the wedding is over. I’m thinking I’d like to donate it to a good organization. I’m thinking I can cut off 8” (of gently processed hair). I don’t color it very often and usually in the same dark color range.
Does anyone know of a good organization that takes hair donations?

I would contact your local American Cancer Association, I know they give wigs, most time for free to canccer patients, (my Gram was one of them) and they might be able to tell you how to do it. She actually donated her hair before the chemo started because she figured she’s lose it anyhow, I just called a salon in her town and they said they would cut it free and make the donation to Locks of Love… Either one of these would probably work.

typically you have to have 10 to 12 inches to donate. there’s locks of love and i know after the oil spill there was an organization that was taking hair from salons to soak up the oil in the ocean.

I donated my hair twice to locks of love, they do require 10″ of hair, but Pantene Beautiful Lengths only requires 8″. They have some restrictions on accepting hair that has been dyed/treated though.
You can check out their requirements here:http://www.pantene.com/en-US/beautiful-lengths-cause/Pages/hair-donation-requirements.aspx
I think donating your hair is a great thing! You can try out a new style and help make wigs for people in need in the process!

My daughter and I have both donated to Locks of Love.
I love that you want to help others 🙂
