I have gained weight since we got engaged, and it hasn't really stopped even though thr wedding is over. BUT, that is mostly becuase we've been CRAZY busy with my husband starting a new job, me looking for a new job, house hunting, and now getting ready to move into the new house. And busy translates to a lot of eating out :(
Are you thinking of joining a gym or anything, @spraguebride? This week I am joinging curves. It's time to take back some control of my weight!
I did gain a few pounds after the wedding but little did I know only two weeks after the wedding I was preggie (which I didn't know for anotbher 4 weeks) so that may have had something to do with it. But I can honestly say that after the wedding I was more relaxed and didn't do a damn thing other than work and come home.
I've been fighting 5 extra pounds for how long now?! it is NOT coming off. Even with diet and exercise. wtf.
We're going on a vacay in 8 weeks and I'm thinking about taking a Pilates Jumpboard class for 5 weeks before. I really need to be more hardcore. More cardio, more intervals. Sigh.
I gained about 5 back pretty quickly after the wedding, mostly from letting myself splurge and relax after paying so much attention to my weight in the months before. Since then I've gained up to 10 over, and gotten back down again, but found my body is most comfortable about 5 over my wedding day weight, when I'm eating well and exercising regularly. You have to decide what is reasonably maintainable for you.
About a month after the wedding, the hubs and I joined a gym together, and I set a goal of running a half marathon with a friend about 6 months later. It was really great to have that goal in front of me to train for and to get my butt to the gym, especially in the winter! Now, even though there's less of a 'goal', I'm doing more group classes at the gym, weights and cardio, and find that I push myself harder and I actually enjoy it. Not for everybody, I know, but it really makes me look forward to my workouts now.
I try to remind myself that, for us, these are the few years we get to ourselves before kids, when we have the most free time and disposable income, if I can't make a commitment to making myself as healthy as possible now, how will I be able to do it later?
Actually we both did! Because we got married over the holidays, we were visiting family and stopped weighing ourselves every day. Over the week before the wedding and the week long honeymoon we gained 14 lbs! I couldn't believe it! We have both lost some of the weight a few lbs each, but I plan to start working out big time next month when I am done doing so much post-wedding stuff!
Sadly my hubby has super metabolism and can eat anything and never gain a pound. It would be better if we had BOTH gained weight
I am going to need to start working out
It's just depressing to have been at your goal weight and felt happy with yourself...to suddenly gaining 10+ and needing to lose again. I hate that keeping the weight off has to be a contant thing. Once I stop thinking about it and get lazy...I gain ugh!
Our honeymoon was a 10 day cruise...all we did was eat. I think I gained about 5 lbs then, but I've probably put on less than 10 altogether. It's been a year, so I think that's not too bad, seeing as we didn't live together before and have completely different eating habits (he's a meat and potatoes kind of man).
I lived with my sister before the wedding, and we used to work out together religiously. My husband has no interest in working out with me, and I'm too far from my old gym to go with my sister still. I've gotten much less active since we've been married.
Oh girl. Once again, we are going through the same things at the same time! I gained 7 lbs since the wedding. But I've been trying to watch what I eat, and keeping track of weight watchers points. I've lost 2.5 lbs in the past week! But considering I was 10 lbs overweight at the wedding, I still have a long way to go!
yeah I have definitely gained since I got married, maybe 5 to 7 pounds in 4 months, havent weighed myself but my pants are snugger but I havent been working since I got married and moved to Europe, I used to walk about 4 hours a day at my job, running for the bus and running up the stairs on the subway which was my treadmill and cardio everyday. I used to be 109lbs at 5 foot 1
So now I go swimming 2x a week 1 hour straight, I jog 1 to 2x a week for about 30 minutes when I'm feeling extra fat, and try to walk at least 1 to 2 hours a day
I knew it was time to be more aggressive about staying slim when my nighttime outfits got snug for valentines, I tried my looser dress and that was snug yikes!!! wake up call; my job situation appears bleak right now nothing immediate so i try extra hard to work out; staying home and cooking rich food doesnt help either
easier to keep it off than to gain and gain and try to get rid of weight
yep, like 8 pounds. But I haven't been going to the gym. I had some surgeries and then I got sick. I could go back to the gym now finally but I don't have the motivation anymore!
oh my goodness, totally! We basically have been eating all winter long, haha. NOM NOM NOM NOM. We'll skinny up soon, but for now I am not sure either of us cares. I have been doing the shred, then eating ice cream.
I'm holding steady at +5. Even though I've been incredibly diligent about gymming it up 4-5 days a week and eating 1500 calories a day.
Grrrr.
We don't have a scale so i don't know how much I've gained, but I've gone up a pants size. it's killing me!
But I also have been eating like crap and have only worked out 3-4 times this year. ugh.
I dont weigh myself often, but I KNOW I have gained at least 5 lbs. I was just in a bathing suit all week in Mexico. Trust me, not fun! Oh well, we are happy : )
So it's not just me?! I can relate. I've gained about 8 lbs. Bummed. Just went up a pants size and buying new expandable any-size tops. The eating is getting under control...since I've admitted "I have a problem" and now just the workouts need to come back. I told my hubby to let's do it with the lights out the last time we got intimate. When I told my co-worker about the weight gain, he just chuckled and said, "Life is goooooooood, huh?"
I attribute it to not working out, eating differently, sedentary evenings, availability of good home-cooked meals and metabolism slowing down. Oh, and I moved to a 1 story house rather than a 2 story house ....haha! No more excuses for me!
I know I've gained a lot of weight, I just don't want to know how much. I'm hoping that the move to a new office and required 1.5 mile walk will help. I have no motivation to exercise when I go home. :( I did also get the Wii Active and I hope that helps too.
Yes, I have (and it's only been a couple of months). I'm blaming it on the fact that we've been cooped up so much with all of the snowstorms here in the D.C. area, and DH is a fantastic at-home cook. So no exercise plus too much food. I can't wait for spring!!
I gained about 5 lbs after the wedding...I'm working on getting rid of the last 2. I've been back to Weight Watchers (it works, it's healthy and I can eat reasonable portions of anything I want) and signed up for a distance cycling event for the summer. I find that sticking to a plan and setting goals helps me keep off weight.
It's super important to me because I feel more attractive and healthy when I am in shape, but I know that my husband loves me either way.
Weight gain aside, I am sure your husband thinks you are beautifu and I've heard that weight gain is normal and is the sign of a happy marriage!
I'm too scared to weigh myself but I can definitely tell with my clothes! Maybe 10 lbs?
Same boat here too girls:( I blame it on the fact that it has been really cold....can't wait for the warm weather!!
I weighed myself almost everyday before the wedding......because it was moving in the right direction
Since the wedding, I have only weighed myself twice. I see that scale sitting in the bathroom and I think "nope...not today. Don't wanna get THAT news today"
hahahaha
Anyone avoiding the truth? :-)
My gain is due to lack of exercise....I work out on average twice a week now whereas before our wedding it was 5 times a week. Before I made it a priority. Now, focusing on what I paid less attention to pre-wedding (home, work, organizing, family, etc) is more important. I just ordered the 30 day shred (it used to be on demand, now its not) and plan to start it again, so hopefully that will get me back on track.

I have gained over 10lbs since we were married in August! :-(
It makes me nuts because I had lost weight and was so happy where I was at. But sadly when you don't pay attention..it just comes back on
What are other newlyweds?
Have you gained weight since the wedding?
