Hi Ladies… I am considering a cushion diamond, but am scared that it will face up really small. We are looking around 3/4 carat, but will it look small due to it being bottom heavy?
Could you post your cushion rings, with the size? Preferably ON your hand? 😀
Thanks so much

I love the cushion cut! That was the only thing I actually said about the ring to my fiance.
I am not sure how big it is… maybe 1 or less? No clue.

Cakelover: What a gorgeous ring!! That’s a great cushion too, you’re very lucky!

westcoast_girl: cushion cuts do have a tendency to face up smaller. But I love that cut so i didnt care. My diamond is 1.25cts

Cakelover: that’s a very pretty ring, but I would bet that it’s way larger than 1ct unless she has tiny fingers. I have a 1.65ct centerstone on a 5.75 finger and it has about the same coverage I think. If I could find my old pics, I would post one but I can’t find my uploaded photos on the new bee…

Mine is a 1.22 on a size 4. I love cushion cuts and wasn’t concerned about the face up size when I got this ring. I wanted those big, chunky facets! 🙂

westcoast_girl: Here’s my beauty! She’s a 0.56 ct cushion

Mine is exactly 3/4 of a carat and you’re right it does face up smaller than say round diamonds of the same size. If you’re one who cares about the size it looks face up then maybe it’s not the shape for you. I however couldn’t care less. I love the soft shape of it and for me the way it looks is perfect overall so I don’t care how big or small it looks face up or otherwise.
For reference my ring size is 5.25.

Mine is above – 1.01 carat, F colour, Vs1, excellent cut in a custom double prong white and yellow gold setting.
It feels like the size that it is because I’m used to it…and it may appear smaller than a round, but I feel like the cushion is a luxurious cut whereas a round is BORING.

I have a .61 brellia cushion from gog and my ring size is 8.75. its interesting because I compared mine to a three quarter carat from jareds and mine looks bigger even though its smaller in carat weight. i think the cut increases the light performance and brightness making the stone appear larger.

Bec1602: I completely agree….round cut is very mainstream…cushion is a bit of vintage and modern in one 🙂
