@WhatMaeBee:  Is your cushion considered “crushed glass” or does it have the chunkier facets? It’s beautiful!

@WhatMaeBee:  I think even within the “crushed ice” category there’s a lot of range- mine, for example, has a “crushed ice” look in the very bottom facet, but as you move up through the stone it’s got a very obvious pattern. With cushions, SO much depend on the cut of that specific stone, which is why i always advise people to shop in a brick-and-mortar store for this specific cut (or order a bunch and be prepared to return them.) I’ve seen cushions that look like they would be great based on their GIA paperwork, but look dull and lifeless in real-life. Not everything can be represented on a plot or % measurement table when each stone can be SO dramatically different!

@WhatMaeBee:  omg I’ve spent literally all day watching GOG vides on youtube trying to discern what type of cushion I like – Didn’t really get me anywhere haha!

They are so complex but can be so beautiful. I’m still trying to decide whether I prefer RB or CB.

here is my cushion brilliant and plot. It has a very large table and 74% depth, however it is stunning. Generally a speaking modified cushion brilliants are “crushed ice” stones and cushion brilliants are chunkier. August vintage are the really antique cut, chunky faceted cushions.

This is my first post! I love this topic, all of your cushions are lovely!

We ordered my ring a few weeks ago and it will arrive just before Christmas Eve. Prior to ordering the ring my boyfriend joked that I was trying to become a gemologist because I was researchig this topic (cushion plots vs. the actual appearance of the stone) for hours every night! I haven’t seen my stone yet, but I will attach an image of a stone with the same plot. It was described as a hybrid between Cushion Brilliant and Cushion Modified Brilliant and should have large flashes of light as well as smaller sparkles.  I love the idea of having the best of both worlds! I can’t wait to see it!
