This is our dream house - it has everything we want! The only thing we would change is making the garage smaller - the entire basement is a garage, so we would split it in half or thirds and add a theatre room. or perhaps just make the whole basement a rec room and have a separate garage, otherwise we love the whole house perfectly!
We especially love all the windows - I love natural light, and with all the French doors and big windows, it's perfect. My hubby likes the two wrap around decks the best - and almost all the bedrooms have walkouts to the deck - gorgeous!
Someday we might be able to afford building it... someday ;)

@miss-spunkin: Gorgeous!!!!!!
Ok mine is a little unrealistic, but a girl can dream, can't she? Mine is from the movie Practical Magic (my favorite movie). It's the perfect combination of creepy, cute, and cozy. If I could find a home like this, I'd die.

DH & I would be thrilled with a house like this.... but the question would be LOCATION! We would want a house like this (3-4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, full finished basedment, and an open living space with a gourmet kitchen--ooh and his/her bathroom and walk in closets!) but it has to have easy access to our jobs in Manhattan...when I say easy, I mean 30 mins door-to-door...basically not at all possible in our price range.

Something like this. Classic Old Savannah. Lots of palm trees and spanish moss, statues, iron gates... kind of voodoo spooky but classically beautiful and southern.

@KatyElle: GORGEOUS! I love it!
My hubby and I want weeping willows in our yard ;) Our first meeting at the wedding was under a willow tree :)
@KatyElle: I love that house!
I LOVE the Southern Colonial look! I just adore this house. Except I would add lots of oak trees! *sigh*

Pretty much this. If our house was too big, we would fill it with a bunch of crap :P
A medium sized, cozy house is more us. Oh yeah, and on the beach.

It doesn't have to be huge like that... but I always dreamed of my back yard being the ocean...
I know that's never going to happen though. :(

@petitfour: Yes... I just couldn't find a pic of a smaller house in front of the beach... Beautiful. We have the same taste in dream homes! =)
I would LOVE this house, DH and I will be building out in the country someday and this is the house from the movie Stepmom, I love it, inside and out!
something like this - we are always looking at properites in two sydney suburb called Shiprock and Lillipilli and have spied about 6 houses that if they ever come on the market we will be looking to buy. as we are out scuba diving every weekend this would be perfect for us

I've always swooned over brick tudors - and I'd have the great room and master bedroom each have an exposed brick wall and a slate stone fireplace. Filled with furniture from Viva Terra and the treasures I brought back from Morocco and Tanzania. With a 4-person hot tub built in to the back porch and a natural boulder fire pit in the yard.
@miss-spunkin: It makes me swoon! Haha. I stumbled upon it on a blog called "Sweet Details" one day.
@smyley: THIS!!!! Thank you for posting my dream house.... will show my FI as soon as he walks in the door so that he can start saving, like... yesterday lol
@KansasPrincess11: This is one of my dream homes (plus I love the movie)
So mine isn't a house, it's an apartment...but I"m pretty sure if we ever lived here, I would never want to leave!

)

@KansasPrincess11: I also LOVE that house!!
@smyley: this house is amazing! I acctually just went to a house very similar to this one a couple days ago. We have lots of log cabin type houses out here in Idaho.
@hilsy85: not loving the bathroom but i would love a new kitchen - something big and roomy with lots of bench space for me to put my KA and other toys on show
Private island with a gorgeous house on the smaller side (<4000 ft.. HA!), awesome beach, plus forest.
We hate neighbors.

@eloping: But look at that VIEW!! My showers would be 10x as long if I had that window to look out of while I was washing my hair :)
@hilsy85: lol well I love the bathroom FYI :) natural light in bathrooms is so nice.
@hilsy85: im also 6ft and hubby 6ft 2 so the tub needs to be A LOT bigger ;-). something about the floor tiles dont grab me but i can imagine a row of candles on the window sill for a relaxing bubble bath
@eloping: I agree that the tub needs to be bigger, I'm not quite that tall - but tall still and I like a roomy tub :)
@smyley: Gorgeous! Love mountain homes! Although I'd certainly take one by the beach too ....
I have a ton of dream homes, but the one that comes to mind right now is the house from "The Others." It's gorgeous and I love the land it's on.
The interior of our dream home was on house hunters last night- and the silly people hated it! Beautifully layed out kitchen, a very formal wood dining room that would be excellent in the painted panels charateristic of the ~1750s, a den, and BIG backyard.
But this is what we're going for with the exterior:Typical Cape Cod Style, but I would want to convert the garage into another bedroom room and build a garage adjacent to the barn
With this barn

I dream of a house on the beach. I also feel like I don't need a mansion, just 3 bedrooms, lots of windows and a nice large balcony/terrace. I want a back yard of sand and ocean. Then I'll just need a job I can do from home and I'll be all set.
I couldn't find a pic of what we want, but I can describe it.
Something with 2 stories and a basement, with wrap around porches on both levels. 6 beds (master, each have our own dressing room, office for me, and 2 guest rooms) 3.5 baths (1 master, 1 full upstairs probably connecting the guest rooms, 1 full on first level, 1 half in the basement), huge kitchen with island that includes butcher block countertop, range top and sink in the island, and double ovens on a kitchen wall. The entire basement would be an entertainment room, and vaulted ceilings in the living room. Also, stone facade on the front of the house, and we're debating on a fireplace or 2 (living room and basement). Also, hubs wants at least a 4 car garage, so we can garage park our cars, but he can also have room enough to work on other cars, so we would probably do a back to back garage (2 openings on opposite sides, with the work part separate from the car parking).
I have a giant book of house plans, so I plan on drawing the blue prints myself. This will be our house eventually, just need to find the perfect location. Can you tell we have thought about this??
@misschickpea: Ooooh I love that! I'm totally adding that photo to my file!
This is my dream house (we're semi-copying it for our own house we're planning on building soon, ours will be two storeys though), I love the combo of the glass and old stone. It's like someone took an old farm house, removed the walls and put in glass instead:

I'm with mandypop, I've dreamed of a brick tudor since I was a little girl :)
So many of the house around here are stucco or spanish style ranch houses--I hate stucco and I hate the red tile roofs and the sprawling one stories. Good for earthquakes but infinitely ugly imo.
I'd love a little stone or brick tudor cottage, add a cute roof and a turret and you've got me sold. With built in bookcases and rich wood floors and beadboard and arches.

@kala_way:I love the first one! So adorable!
@KatyElle:I find myself loving plantation homes, but kind of impossible to own one since I'm up north! :(
@KansasPrincess11:I was just watching that movie and remembering how much I loved her house!
