Just went to book my hair appointment today and now I'm starting to second-guess the time I should have my hair done and the timing for everything!

I would LOVE to see your day-of schedules!

Part of my job as a photographer is to help my clients with their time-line.  Here are some things to consider.

Hair (ALWAYS) takes longer then you think it's going to make sure to give yourself a little room in here.

Receiving lines are time hogs.  Always double what you think you will need for this or choose to greet your guests at the reception.

Don't want your guest to wait for you between the ceremony and reception do a first look and get all the portraits knocked out before the ceremony.  Or at least get you with your girls and family and his with GM and family done beforehand (usually only works if everyone is at the same location or you have two photographers).

If you plan on doing any outside photos make sure you know where the sun is going to be.  Bad planning can mean you don't have any light left for outdoor photos and noon is the absolute worst time (and least flattering) to photograph.  The closer to sunrise/ sunset the better the light is.  Just make sure you give yourself enough time that if things run long you wont run out of light.

Here is my sched for my own upcoming wedding:

    • 9am - wake up and grab a quick bite
    • 9:30 - 10:30 head to venue to put last min touches (I'm having a total DIY wedding)
    • 11am - Hair and makeup.  I have two hair dressers coming, one for me, MOH & flower girls and another for the BMs this way we have two people going at once. Doing my own makeup.
    • 11am - lighting the venue - FH and team of photogs going in and setting up remote cameras and lighting.  This is what happens when photogs get married
    • 12 noon - Boys are getting ready on their end and my photog is taking bridals and photos of with my girls/ fam.  I live/work in a loft which half is a dedicated photo studio.  After they boys are dressed they will do the same, but at the hotel they are staying in.
    • 2pm - Drive back to venue for first look and wedding party portraits (not the best time light wise, but it's what we have to work with
    • 4pm - Ceremony Starts
    • 4:30 - Family photos then join guests for cocktail hour.
    • 5:30 - everyone seated and we are introduced and go right into first dance.
    • 6pm - toasts
    • 6:30pm dinner is served (sun is starting to set)
    • 7pm - cut the cake
    • 7:30 parent dances then party the rest of the night.
