I did SB about 5 years ago (it was WAY more strict back then! No soda, no sweetener, fewer fats etc.)  I lost about 75 lbs in 9 months! I think I lost about 15 lbs the first month (I was 225 when I started though!).

SB is pretty awesome. Low carb diets will typically give you fast results because you lose a ton of water weight the first couple of weeks and since your diet is restricted to filling foods, you end up eating fewer calories. BUT, something like Weight Watchers works too because they “trick” you into eating a lot fewer calories when you count points (most people end up on 1000-1500 cals =  20 – 30 points per day depending on weight). Add exercise to any of these, and your NET calories drop dramatically and you see a lot of fast results!

My SB advice – get strict with it. It’s all or nothing with SB! Add exercise (ever heard of Insanity by Shaun T? Wow! That’s a workout!). Buy lots of cheese sticks and lean meat! And learn to love stir fry!

My sister has lost 60 pounds and counting on South Beach. She’s struggled with her weight her entire life and when I got engaged and asked her to be MOH she told me she “didn’t want to be the fat bridesmaid” obviously I told her I didn’t care what size she was, but she’s used my wedding as a motivator for her weight loss. We went shopping yesterday and she was SO happy she bought a pair of size 18 jeans. She didn’t even wear 18’s in high school. SB works for her!
