So, I’m sitting at work, dreaming about my dress appointment on Saturday and looking through my pinned wedding dresses…
I decided to try googling how much they were, and most of them are in the $1000 (my way, way upper limit) to $1400 range (I blame this on my taste for lace). Because of alteration costs, I’d really like to keep the cost for the dress itself at $800 or under.
I know there are lots of threads about budget gowns on here, but prices can change quite a bit from year to year. So, in the name of research, would you be kind enough to share your wedding gown that cost under $800, that was purchased new from a bridal salon within the last year, (since June 2012) or any gown that you’re currently seriously considering that fits that price point?

Thisis my dress. Theres a lot of bees on here who have bought it and love it. Davids bridal is having their semi annual sale going on now like it was when I bought my dress last summer. It came out to $700 something total.

Mine isn’t lace, but I bought the sample off the rack, and paid $700 taxes included. Sticker price was $1100, got a large discount for buying the sample. Please excuse the way I look in this picture!

Boom! My dress was $575. My second favorite dress was the same shape, but was duponi silk (by Justin Alexander) and was $1650. I kept looking because I really wanted organza or tulle and found this Mori Lee Blu style (4808) – it’s organza and I loved it before I knew how inexpensive it was. My budget was $1200, but I was willing to go to 2k – I was SHOCKED to spend so little! It comes with a beaded/sparkly sash and a flower pin, but I’m planning on wearing a simple black grosgrain sash. FWIW, my style tends to be more classic/simple – I wanted no lace and no bling, but still most of the dresses I looked at were 1k+. A consultant told me that simple dresses tend to be made out of more luxe fabrics, bringing the price up.

That’s without the crenolyn though, if you add one of those slips it looks more like the trumpet it’s listes as. I plan to get a rather large slip to make it look more like a mermaid.

What I paid for my Allure 8764 is just out of your price range; it was around $900 before tax, just over $1000 after tax. My alterations are going to be $275, so $1275 after it’s all said and done.
With such a tight budget, if you want lace, I really recommend finding a sample sale or trunk show where you can get a discount.
