I know exactly your frustration! I ended up using the gold bands. I was so frustrated with the 44 cent on the RSVP cards because they were smaller then postcard size but since I had an envelope on them they became 44 cent. Stupid to me and such a waste of money. Oh well. I think part of it depends on who you get working at the counter.
I've got to take mine to the post office next week, these are good things to think about
Yup!! My postage ended up being $1/each instead of $0.57 so instead of an airplane stamp that would match the theme I ended up with a daffodil stamp. Oh well .. I doubt anyone would notice. Might use plane stamps on the thank yous though.
I already made one mistake, and that was making them square - apparently the machine doesn't know how to figure which way is up, so they have to be hand sorted, hence an extra .20 each. That's without the extras on the inside... we'll see soon enough. Fortunately I only have about 50.
Wow, I haven't even really looked at invites yet, but this is making me cringe a bit. I'm definitely going to make sure I can minimize postage costs.
That's weird, why did the twine ribbon make the postage cost more even though the weight was what you expected?
I hear ya... I was so not excited about the polar bear postcard stamps for our RSVP postcards. They're cute, but a little odd for our summer wedding. I couldn't justify spending more on custom stamps though, so I'm just sending them out with the bears.
My invitations were $.61 each and we were able to get the wedding cake design. We were also able to get wedding rings for our $.44 stamps for the returns. I was very excited.

I went to the post office to weigh my invites even though I was pretty sure they would only be 1 oz and take a .44 cent stamp. I was right about the weight, but oh so wrong about the postage required! Since we have a little twine bow inside the envelope, the cost to mail is an extra .24 cents! Not a big deal, except the only .64 cent stamp is a dolphin that doesn't really fit our rustic chic theme.
I don't have time for zazzle, so I'm biting the bullet and putting 2 of the gorgeous king and queen stamps on each envelope. Is anyone else spending more on freakin' postage just so your invite looks pretty when it arrives?
