@tarahartman: Sorry, this has nothing to do with your postage questions but um, the paper you ordered, did you order a sample first? I don't know if I should but I don't want to be disappointed.
Before you order custom postage, try going to the USPS site and check out their stamps. They have a ton of selections, and you might find something you love without having to pay extra; that is what I am going to do.
I have been saving money for everything. We did splurge and get the custom stamps. The way I look at it, its a special occasion.
brooklyn, yes i did order samples.. TONS of them... and other bride friends had samples too... better safe than sorry! So, now I have a crap load of extra envelopes and cardstock and stuff that i'll probably use for random other projects so they don't go to waste!
noritake22, I did go on USPS but, of course, none of them are perfect!
@tarahartman: You still have a little bit of time, so hopefully they will print out some that you will like.
thanks megan! it just seems silly... but i've been spending so much time designing and perfecting the invitations i would just hate for the stamp to ruin it for me!
To be perfectly honest, I have never looked at a stamp on an envelope. I have received a ton of wedding invitations over the last few months and cannot ever remember looking at the stamp. I did, however, noticed if the envelope was handwrited ( I like to tell the bride how nice it was).
@tarahartman: Tons of them from cards....? Hmm.., left to me, if I saved so much money by designing and putting my invites together, I'll totally splurge on stamps. But that's just me :)
We used zazzle for our stamps. They turned out perfect. We got some comments on them. We used our engagement pictures. My thought was, how many times will you see your face on a stamp. :)
Zazzle periodically has promos on custom stamps. Sign up for their mailing list. I hope they have on very soon--I'd like something for my TYs!
As someone who has been married and bought great postage:
NOBODY WILL NOTICE.
Seriously. One person commented on the postage. Does not matter at all. At all. I'm super detail oriented, and i'm the only one who noticed.
The stamps wind up getting cancelled at the post office. They arrive with black marks all over them, don't they? IMO I would skip it.
I don't think anyone would notice. My friend ended up having to use snowmen stamps... for a May wedding... because it was ALL THE POST OFFICE HAD, and she was down to the wire on mailing them. But no one noticed. I think you should save your splurge for something more fun!

So, i'm a budget savy bride... I'm saving a ton of money by doing the invites myself and bought everything from "cardsandpockets.com." Soooo now since i saved money, do i splurge on the customized postage or opt for the standard wedding rings or my fav stamp right now, the adopt a shelter pet stamp? (which both wouldn't look bad with our invitation suite..)
Of couse hubby says "do whatever you want honey"
Can i justify spending an extra $60 on stamps?
Help beees!
