Has anyone made their own postcards for their save the dates? Any good website reccomendations to do them? I like the idea because it will save paper and money, but the websites that I have seen so far have been more business-y then personal, if that makes sense. Thanks for your ideas!

We designed our own through VistaPrint.

You can try 123print.com.I am thinking about getting mine from them.
You can add extra text lines if you want, and you can move the text lines anywhere you want, as long as they are within the post card, and you can pick different font sizes and font styles, and font colors. You can add your own photos to the background too. It’s a really neat site, and reasonably priced too I think.
The ones I am thinking about getting are $9.95 for 50 of them. That is like 100 for $20. Whatever you decide to do good luck!

We used zazzle.com, worked out great. We put a photo we had taken on the front, and used various fonts on the back. However, there aren’t too many options for customizing on the site, unless you have photoshop and create logos of your own and such to import. It cost us around $60 for 100 postcards.

I used photoshop to create my own, then printed them via vistaprint. I think that 123print.com has better layouts, but consider buying a personalized digital file STD off of etsy that you can print on vistaprint if you don’t have a lot of photoshop experience, because of course those layouts will be much better! Good luck!

you can also get them done at office depot, they can set them up on the page for you to have them printed.

Hi Lisa, we didn’t use postcards but another option you might want to consider is photos. We did a photo and stuck it inside Christmas cards, we’re getting married next week so about the same time as yours. We had to send out Christmas cards anyway – definitely wouldn’t have sent out quite so many but it worked out well. We just used a photo of us holding signs with the date, and I wrote the website on the photo with photoshop, and had it printed up as a bunch of 4×6 prints. Then I just stuck them inside the C/mas cards.
Good luck 🙂 October is awesome for weddings!

Ours were not super fancy; we just cut cardstock into postcard size, printed the info, stamped a pretty rubber stamp design, then mailed them out. They got through OK, were not all beat up or anything.

I used savethedatemagic.com. I loved the cards and I got 100 for Under $50 before taxes and they are really nice…the only thing is to make sure you order your postcard the landscape way and not the portrait way. I got with a portrait layout and I ended up spending more on postage. I sent them out with $.28 stamps and all were returned for an additional $.20 surcharge. I took them back to the post office because the clerk there had said that all I needed was the $.28 stamp and again said that he didn’t understand why there was a problem so he called his supervisor over and he didn’t understand why they were sent back..he made some calls and found out that if a postcard in not in the landscape layout how regular mail is normally formatted they required an extra $.20 surcharge because they just couldn’t feed my postcards into the machine like any other piece of mail. So I ended up paying $.48(more then a regular piece of mail). So just remember to order or make your postcards with a landscape layout or if you do portrait make you you address them and stamp them in a landscape way just so you could save money and only pay $.28 to mail each one out. But yeah back to the website, they have really cute layouts and once you order them they will send you a proof before they print and mail you the postcards. Excellent customer service! Ill try and attach my proofs.

We used zazzle.com and it was awesome. Once I played around with the different fonts and colors I came out with some really great options. Plus if you sign up for an account they’ll send you promotional codes weekly and usually you can get some sort of discount on shipping or the postcards. Good luck!
