- Wedding: December 2011
This is my first post on Weddingbee, and it’s a shame that the topic is such a sad one 🙁
My fiance and I got engaged on March 14th 2010, and immediately set the wedding date for March 5th 2011. We were so excited, and I booked the church and venue right away. Now, less than 3 months before our wedding, everything’s changed. Since the day we got engaged, there’s been a ton of conflict with my parents, because they felt that my fiance and I both needed to graduate before getting married (we’re both in medical school). It’s just been a constant fight, and with school and wedding planning added to that, I’ve been super stressed. I really care about my parents’ opinion, so it hurts that we’re not getting along.
Anyway, after 9 months of this, it just became too much. I started seeing the counselor at school, and she diagnosed me with depression. I just started treatment and therapy, and hopefully will be feeling better soon. However, the therapist is very concerned about my readiness to be married right now. She strongly suggested that I consider postponing the wedding.
In addition, school has more of a challenge than either my fiance or I had anticipated, and we’re behind with planning. The extra time could help with that as well. I just worry a lot about the logistics of changing our date. With our venue, for example, our contract says that the venue can charge us at their discretion for a change of plans.
Has anybody been in a similar situation with their vendors? What did you do?
