I’m thinking of asking friend who lives across the country to be one of my bridesmaids. My fiance and I booked our venue/date a few weeks ago. It’s a 3-day event: rehearsal dinner Friday, wedding Saturday, brunch Sunday. After my friend found out the date, she said, “Uh oh, another one of my good friends just booked that Friday yesterday!” What a coincidence, huh?
So, I’m not sure if I should still ask her to be a BM. I would still like her to be my BM for sure, but I don’t want to pressure her to skip her other friend’s wedding over mine. I’m thinking, maybe she can still go to both and attend my wedding only on Saturday, but I’m not sure how feasible that will be because we’re so far apart geographically. So it might be an all or nothing situation.
I thought of saying something to her like, “I was wondering if you would be one of my bridesmaids? I know another one of your friends has a wedding that weekend, and I understand if you wouldn’t be able to do it.” My fiance says not to worry about it and to just ask her without mentioning the other wedding. What do you guys think would be the best way to proceed?
